I didn’t haggle on this one for $40. Some are overpriced... there is a 1968 Dunhill Bruyere but the finish is all but gone with super oxidized stem only asking $195.
Also a tin of three nuns green is $25. I want to support the B&M but I’m not paying that.

That's a real gem. Pure class. When I saw your comment about sanding the stem, I didn't understand why. Thought the stem was meant to be that color. Lol. You did a great job cleaning it up.

What does the "reg'd" mean? I've seen that on estate listings as well. Is it a line if pipes ir does it refer to a certain era or something?

Here in CA, that's what all the tins go for after sales tax and tobacco taxes. It's kind of a bummer, but they also tend to have tins I can't score online, so I pay it. The only real exception is the Gawith tins, which are 17.95 before tax. Not that much more than many internet retailers. I do most of my buying online, but try to stop in once or twice a month or so.

Yes it means 1948-pre-1970 manufacture or so.
If the stem “S” has no crown it’s earlier in that range like 1950s.

ha. No the stem was nasty tan and funky.

Yeah this price was before sales tax so that would put it at $26.75 out the door. I can get two tins of three nuns green for that.
I don’t think it’s taxes in that case just high prices. However some of the estates are reasonable so I look for those.
