That's cool. I may look into that. I have some good hospital lotion/skin protectant, too. In the old days we used bacitracin ointment, but the trend has moved away from that now. My tattooist says it's because that ointment can leach the ink from your skin.

What your artist said about the bacitracin ointment is true, also stay away from the Cortizone cream. Simple A&D is all you need

Yes, also let that sucker get some air. Don't keep slathering any ointment on it. let it rest and breathe. BTW it looks really nice!

I keep my shirt off and use just moisturizing cream at home. At work I use the A&D type stuff. Just a thin layer and some breathable gauze so my shirt doesn't rub against it. So far, no scabbing. I'm babying the hell out of it!

Sounds like you might be babying it too much. Don't use A&D past the first day. Don't bandage it.

(i used to work in a tattoo shop)

 you got the Black House tat! And it looks real professionally done too.
how much Black House does that end up equating to?
gwtwdbss was very generous to send me a jar of the stuff to try. Just have to wait for the USPS
Assuming it's half as awesome as the hype, how do you become a Blackblood? Do I have to smoke three bowls of Black House with my own blood as the topping?

"how much Black House does that end up equating to? "
Russ said he is trying to find more Latakia!
"Assuming it's half as awesome as the hype, how do you become a Blackblood?"
All you have to do is like Black House and put the crest or "Blackblood Society" in your sig.

Last time I tried to get some at P&C they were out. Need to check again.
Last I saw just the 2oz were out, they still have the 8oz and bulk. :puffy:
(Took advantage of the deal they had going with a 2-pipe travel case and three tins- Cerberus, Fusilier's Ration, and BLACK HOUSE. Showed up in the mail today, Merry Christmas to me! Can't wait to try the other blends someday, into the cellar they go for now...)

It has been written that the Blender and the Baron would meet at the Gateway Pipe Show and usher in a new era of darkness! So shall it be done!

I had an awesome time and Russ and Jim both had a chance to inspect my ink. They thought it was cool as hell. He even introduced me to people who inquired about Black House as the "Foremost Expert" on the blend and the man behind the Blackblood Society.
I tried Darbyshire and it was amazing! Even though it is a lakeland blend, it is full of body and the lakeland is reigned in very well so that the flavors blend and dance around instead of being the typical lakeland punch in the face. It comes in a big, tightly packed cake and even though I'm not a lakeland smoker, I really enjoyed it!
Freight Train was also badass. It was first thing in the morning when I tried that and it woke me up in short order! Glad I ate a good breakfast!

Yep. Russ handed me off 3 lbs at the show! He has to buy more Latakia to keep up with me.
Darbyshire is a Lakeland eh? Thanks for the warning
That's what I thought, too, but after trying it I was pleasantly surprised. Not soapy or perfumey. You could get some of it in the room note but the taste was full bodied. He also did some different things topping wise from what lakeland blends normally do. I'll let him explain that part though.

Sounds like it was a great time. And three pounds of Black House on top of it all? Daaaaaaaaaaaang.... :D The Baron of Black House struck gold.

The big departures between Darbyshire and the blends I had in mind when I made it (St. Bruno and Condor) is that the flavors are not applied as heavily, and there's a bit of honey in the mix. Also, I made the base tobacco blend pretty stout (a good amount of dark Burley), so it has a fairly rich body so the toppings don't over whelm the tobacco. The next project is a new "cousin" for BlackHouse.

I had a lot of fun hanging with the Baron, and the Hazelnut Brown Ale went well with the company.
