The pH balance has been altered up and down, by the use of sugar and vinegar normally in the casing for the plain tobacco leafs.
I am curious as since the casings and toppings are supposed to be alcohol based sauces, would a bath in high grade alchol do anything to REMOVE the casing or topping from a blend?
I have read about people soaking tobacco for hours on end in hot water to remove nicotine from it. But never anything about the topping.
Also, in the old days of McClelland, they soaked the tobacco in vinegar and then packaged it. Was said to be a preservative. But im wondering if it was done as a final sort of pH balance control.
