Who takes their pipes fishing?

Personally I never take any pipes out fishing. I'll grab a couple of cigars, or some chew to take.

I'd hate to come back with my pipes all ghosted with skipjack stank.

I mostly fish for catfish, so I'm cutting up bait the whole time... sometimes my hands still smell like fish even after a shower and a few hand washings.

If you do take your pipes fishing, then how do you mitigate the fish stank?

Also please post your fishing with pipes pictures!

Leave the hooks at home so, no fish to mess with. Lotsa beer but, with the pole in hand, line in the water, folks won't think you're a drunk.

That reminds me of the story about the hunter returning from deer camp complaining to his wife that she forgot to pack his cigarettes. She replied that she had put a carton in his gun case.

Definitely never smoked while fishing...because the last time I fished was pre-teen years.

The first time I thought I was going to get to fish, I was probably 6 or 7. Went with my dad, my older brother and a friend of his. They put me up on the bow of the boat to cast because they were afraid I was going to hit someone with my hook.

The very first cast, my brother embedded his hook deep into his friend's arm. It was in so deep my dad couldn't get it out, so we had to take him to the ER. Never got to fish that day. Apparently I was the only one who knew what he was doing.

Back some years ago at a boy scout summer camp, my younger son decided he will fish. My older son was working on bicycle merit badge, so didn't have the time. First day, my younger along with his friends went off on fishing. Didn't see them for awhile. I was going to go look for them, but they came back.

On first cast, his friend hook himself, and they had hard time removing the hook and did first aid. On second cast other boy hook the first boy. Then the second boy ended up with heat blister from hell.

I ask my son how was the fishing trip. He said fishes weren't biting with all the ruckus going on. He stayed far away from his friends after the first hook, but first aid was fun.

Seen some girls noodling hurling cats their body size. Crazy!

I'm usually not much of an environmentalist but the noodling thing kinda sucks.

Those nest get killed by other fish the minute those big Flat Heads get pulled off.

Also I'm big on catch and release with the big catfish. It's a person's own business what they do with their catch, but it takes 20+ years to grow a big catfish... They really are sitting ducks when they're on their nests. Plus the smaller ones taste better.

Also just for fishing with a rod and reel they're vulnerable, with the new depth finders you can see a big one on the screen.

I try to throw back any over 20 lbs... I hate cleaning fish anyway. I'm like you, I'm just trying to get out of the house.

Other than the smell of bait or other fish, never wanted anything on my hands to transfer odors to jigs and so forth. Tobacco always seemed especially persistent, so it was a "no". Can't say it made any difference and whose to day the occasional beverage or what was in my sandwich wasn't just as likely to spook a fish, lol. But, had to have a process.
