I can't imagine anyone wishing ill on you - although a "weirdo" you may be - but always interesting to read. Now, a "WERIDO" who knows what they may wish on you - LOL:)

But as for me - I wish you nothing but the best. Happy smokes and healthy teeth.

Last year one crown that the dentist botched. 5 days later My face exploded. Sent me to the ER which was $900 and ended up getting a root canal. $5000 total for one tooth. Every body else laughed all the way to the bank. I did get a shot of morphine so that was pleasant.

I went to the dentist a while back and he said my far back tooth needed a root canal. He quoted me $1500. I asked for a quote to pull it. He was shocked. He then switched gears and said he might be able to do a filling which was $75. I went that route. 15 yrs later my "filled" tooth is working great. Switched dentists after that.

I had my wisdom teeth removed the old fashioned way without any anesthesia or anything to numb it. I had just gotten to college and went to the first dentist in the phone book. He asked me if I wanted them out right away, and without knowing what would be involved said, "yes." He then stuck what looked like a small crowbar in my mouth and started popping them out like he was removing corks from wine bottles. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt at all. I believe in the end it merely costs me $50.

Kids these days are weak and fearful, so I imagine that they wouldn't be able to stand the idea more than the actual pain, which was none. It didn't start hurting until a few hours later, as my nerve ending caught up with their trauma. But, by that point, I had been to a pharmacist and was prepared. But, all in all, it wasn't horrible. The dentist puts this metal pry tool and and just gives it a yank, and you will feel and hear a thwap. Other than just the weirdness of it, I did not feel any pain at all from the pulling. And, I went through four of them in one sitting. Took about ten minutes at most.

But when you cauterized it with your survival knife? :)

Nah, just a hot coal... JK. I don't remember it being cauterized.
Buddy of mine had an infected tooth removed as well, he said that it was similar to my experience, but that conversation was a long time ago. YMMV as always. I am certain that if were to potentially cause pain that a dentist would mention this. I can't imagine what kind of sadistic dentist would proceed knowing that it would cause you pain.

telescopes... And, for the life of my... WTF does who you vote for have to do with this conversation. Can people just leave politics out of conversation? You seem to bring this stuff up when you talk to me. I have no idea who you think I vote for, and I really DONT GAF.

I'm sure that'll get the thread locked..

A big ol turd like that floating around in the punch bowl will do it every time.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!

Cosmic gave me the answer I was looking for.

I'm going to pull this bastid as soon get home today. I've got a big bottle of Aristocrat vodka and a brand new pair of Dollar Tree pliers (fresh and sterile). The total cost for this procedure is $15.63.

Thanks for all the expert medical advice. It's a lucky thing we have this pipe forum for our medical questions.

Between 2019 and 2020 when I was still working my company offered free Delta Dental insurance and I was out of pocket $624 to have all of my teeth removed.

I suggest you see a dentist, please. describe your symptoms maybe I can direct you. If it is infected, you will need that dealt with first.
BTW, chances are you might fracture a root, and end result will be worse.

can you tell me exactly where this tooth is in your mouth? upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left... how many teeth from the far back tooth..etc.

It just amazes me that we have things that could kill us happen to us that require surgery. Like tonsils, appendectomies, teeth stuff. Think about 300 years ago, did a certain percentage of the population just die of burst appendixes, infected teeth, etc. I just think about that scene where Tom Hanks knocks his own tooth out with an ice skate. Jeez
