Tonight I tried Frog Morton 2009 (courtesy of strave19, thank you sir) for the first time. Wow what an experience. I can't even describe the flavor but it was awesome. I smoked it in a cob. I have only experienced aromatics so far and will continue to smoke them. I think I will definitely add Latakia blends to the mix though. WOW. Next? Perique...

Jason beat me to it. Exactly what I would have said.
Soon you will find that nothing else will do.

Frog Morton is my tobaccey of choice. I will third the welcome to the dark side.

I will now refer to latakia blends as the dark side... that is just awesome!

i second trucker on trying Frog Morton On The Town. It's pretty great.

And you might as well get yourself some straight blending latakia to add to every single blend you try that just seems to be lacking something

Frog Morton on the Bayou for that Perique blast. Try some McClelland Blue Mountain though, it is really good for the Latakia cravings.

Hey! Glad you enjoyed it. I really like that blend too, I get a nice combo of latakia and orientals that make for an almost incense-like (sandalwood?) taste and aroma at times... I like it.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Pipe smoking just became much more exciting. And strave19, I was having a hard time putting my finger on it. But that incense comparison is very close. Its sweet and spicy which plays to my liking of sweet/salty flavors. This rocks.

Harrier52, those are Virginia and Perique at the very least correct? And let me ask you guys something...A tobacconist in Cincinnati told me that Perique doesn't exist anymore. He says its all KY Gren River Burley which tastes the same. Now I read the story about Perique and where it is grown. It said there is 14 acres of it grown in a parrish in LA. Is this gone?

dhizzy, check this article out if you haven't already (this may be the one you're referring to), the perique myths are discussed in there: Common Misconceptions Redux
