First Bowl/Can of Black Frigate

These types of threads always get me with my thumb on the Buy Button, but I always talk myself out of it because of my experience with Blockade Runner. All I taste in BR is rum. Same with Haddo’s Delight. I convince myself that Black Frigate will be very similar. Is it me? Or is the rum at an aromatic blend level that overtakes the tobacco?

Meh...I just taste a flat sub-par very Latakia forward blend, with a whisper of rum. I wish that I could find the joy in this that so many others seem to, but it tasted so one dimensionally of Cyrprian Latakia to me, that I lost interest less than halfway into my first bowlful

Yeah, I remember that. Barely any Latakia in BF.

BR has FAR more of a Rum presence.

The rum burns off pretty.After the first quarter bowl when everything settles down it is very subdued.You have to look for it or I should say I have to look for it.I say try it as I am liking the time I have spent with it so far.

I don't have to add anything to this thread that hasn't already been said. I'm just posting now because I consider my duty as a Brother Of The Black Frigate to post on any thread concerning it I see. And so I am.... The 'Frigate' is sublime!

I love Lat blends, so I figured I'd like Black Frigate. Man, was I wrong. It just tasted dusty and flat to me.
I'm glad some people love it, because I was able to unload the other 2 tins I had.
