I shall start my post with a little background on how I enjoy tobacco. First and foremost, I need to taste it. That said, some may think "But all tobacco has taste (excluding the cheap crap)." Yes, true, however I seem to have a very bland taste pallet, so alot of the times the aromatics that I love so much tend to taste very similar to me. I can tell the differences but usually I can't tell much of a difference. I dont know why.
Back when I smoked cigars, I usually bought very strong cigars, though usually ones with low nic content. I never had a cigar that beat me down until I smoked an Opus X (cigar smokers, you KNOW why the opus X put me in my chair and kept me there I dont need to explain). Of course, I love pipes and smoke them alot. I have never tried many English blends, or high Lak blends, but I have smoked a couple recently and I was sort of turned off by the tongue bite. However, I happened upon a very nice, strong English Burley blend that just blew me away. It's powerful, and it only sometimes chews on my tongue like a wild animal.
Here is my question. Should English blends be smoked slower and cooler? Or is there a proper way to enjoy them so that they do not become harsh?
Thanks guys and gals, in advance, for your replies.

I have found that no matter what kind of blend you are smoking, it always tastes better, and smokes cooler if you smoke it slowly, or sip your pipe as we say.

A lot of aros don't taste like much, but the good ones are a treat. English tobaccos are my favorite, but Virginia blends make a nice treat!
Slow tends to be better. Boy, isn't smoking neat! :P

The Tobacco is English Burley Blend, house blend by JR tobacco company. Its a B&M tobacco.
Is this JR Cigar, or someone else?
Burleys are pretty high in nicotine, I know that. If there was a lot of burley, it could well have knocked you on your kiester.

JR Cigar, yup. Its the closest B&M I have and after that it's the Tinderbox with their high prices. Though I have to go there anyway usually because I get my snus there. But yeah, this tobacco is odd in that not only is it strong its very very dry. Almost crumble-dry.

I'm super curious about Latakia/Burley blends. I've smoked Lat and Oriental blends for some time now. I love em dearly. But I recently discovered PA and CH and fell in love. But I feel like I'm cheating on my wife. So what blends contain both sides? I'm dying to know!
