Filtered Pipes

I started with a 9mm filtered Molina pipe (used Vauen's charcoal filters), and so the pipes I've purchased afterwards were all filtered. After several months I accidently forgot to put the filter in a Rattray's pipe I own, and I felt like I am getting a little more taste. Bought an unfiltered Stanwell, and after giving it a go, never used filtered again. Most of all I guess it's because I'm lazy, and and it's one less thing to do.

I’ve always suspected that the issue some men have with filters has a correlation with other preferences as well.

and could you elaborate? Not sure what other preferences you would mean and there is no way to confirm if you are on to something or chasing a dead end.

I actually enjoy both filtered and free. And there are some blends I actually prefer filtered. Of those blends, I find I like them better with 9mm charcoal filters than with 6mm paper filters. However, I’m not a big fan of stingers.

I, for one, enjoy filter pipes as well as unfiltered equally--and in some instances, with certain blends or pipes (like my deep-bend Castello) wouldn't want to smoke without one.

I'm probably a strange duck, but I don't get vaping. (And there will be a connection to the OP). When I load my pipe, I want the tobacco taste. I want the tars. I like the incineration of tobacco. I like my blends (mostly English/Balkan) and want their full impact. I don't fundamentally understand vaping. Why cherry (insert flavor here), when you have lovely Charing Cross in your pipe as is? Don't flavor it. Don't filter it. Gimme my tobacco.

I only smoke 9mm filtered pipes. Aside from the fact that the filters have completely eliminated my tongue bite issues, they also prevent COVID and increase penis size.

I assume he's implying that those of us who prefer a filtered pipe are not only less than "real men" but we are full-blown homosexuals. As obviously true manly-men only smoke an unfiltered pipe. None of this euro-metro-faggy stuff for red-blooded 'murican men.

oh well that's not how it works. Some of the manliest manly mans man men I've known have been gay and also don't smoke a filtered pipe.
I thought he was saying a filter is like a prophylactic with a hole in the tip. Less fun and not healthier either.
Also if we're going for macho then the only truly macho tobacco is white snuff. Getting punched in the nose is more gentle then that stuff.
