If I recall, Les Wood was a silversmith with Dunhill where he picked up carving skills as well, before he went into business for himself. I have a smooth bent billiard by him that is an admirable pipe. He's in the grand old tradition of British wood.

Yes, due to the fact that he was a reputable silversmith, I am surprised that the two Ferndowns pictured here do not have silver bands. I rather do like sterling silver bands on pipes, but I suppose it is good to have a variety.
