McClelland's bulk 5120: Fragrant Virginia Ribbon . The blend description is somewhat understated, saying, "Stoved Va. Cake & Red Matured Va." What I got was a complex medley of dark fruity flavors that ranged upward, into the realm of pear, apple, and even orange rind. Naturally sweet, with a solid tobacco-ey flavor. The aroma in the sinuses and in the room was amazing. Medium vitamin-N content. Non-aromatic! Burns cleanly into a dry, pale-gray ash that pours out of the bowl. DGT's very well.

Old Belt Golden Virginia Ribbon is hand blended with a substantial amount of delicious Cyprus Latakia. Long cuts of St. James Perique are added along with a small amount of Kentucky White Burley for additional smoothness.

McClelland's bulk 2035: Dark Navy Flake described as "Pungent Cake," Eastern Belt Lemon Leaf and cutter grade tobacco; aged and lightly stoved. Jet black broken flake with a rubbery, leathery texture that's hard to rub out properly. Dense and difficult to light. Vaguely sweet, pungent, fermented, orangey taste well worth the effort; and the citrus-like tartness lingers in the finish.

Well, since I have had the day off, ( snow day lol.) and just logged onto this forum for the first time today, I will start with this morning.

I enjoyed some Ashton's "Consumate Gentleman", after breakfast. Later I switched pipes, and had a bowl of Middleton's "Walnut".

I just finished some "Perfection", by S. Gawith. All in all, a nice relaxing day at home.

I feel very fortunate to be able to enjoy different belnds throughout the day. I don't know how some old timers I know, can stick with one blend only. Day in and day out.

Maybe I grew up in a more affluent time than they, but I like to keep at least 4 blends of tobacco handy. At a minimum. I would be hard pressed to choose only one.

I agree Max. I love pipe smoking and while, if I had to, I would smoke just one blend all of the time; I do not understand, with the variety of pipe tobacco available these days, why some people choose to stick with one blend all of the time.
I am not saying that they are wrong. As long as they are enjoying it, that is great. But I love variety and love to smoke something different all of the time. SG Perfection is a great light English smoke.
But back on track. Smoking some more H&H Anniversary Kake.

Macbaren Vanilla Cream in my Brigham voyager. A good vanilla blend that's not too aromatic. Nice.

McClelland bulk 5115: Old World Classic Cake, described as a blend of Lemon and Orange-red Va.'s enhanced with natural fruit essences.

This might be a very delicately topped blend because I can't detect any characteristics of a true aromatic. Taste is in the red Va. family, perhaps a little lighter; but there's a full bodied tobacco flavor throughout the smoke. I'd say this is only somewhat fruity and not all that sweet.
