Willie's "Country Christmas Album." Especially when the grandson is visiting.
Any John Prine fans who haven't discovered "An Irish Pipedream" or, and this is an outstanding concept album, "In Spite of Ourselves" are sadly deprived. The latter has just about all of the best women country singers in duets with Prine. It's a hoot.

Hell yeah! My favorite NIN album by far. I picked it up on vinyl so soon after it had come out that I wasn't familiar with any of the songs. Trent sure knows how to close an album, too -- those last three songs are just *chef's kiss*.

It's not necessarily my favorite album of all time, but when I'm in the mood, I'll put it on the turntable and just grin and bop my head for the full 39 minutes. It's so 80's, slick yet full of jarring Fairlight sample work (J.J. Jeczalik is on a track or two.) Every track made me go "WTF?" the first time I heard it, now I can't pick a favorite.
Okay, that's a lie -- it's "Small Talk". All the chittering percussion and sequenced synth parts are like bright flashing lights, a delight for this ADHD brain.
Is it a concept album? Sure, it uses a slick commercial sound to raise class consciousness and explore the relationship between text and meaning. Tale as old as time, really...

Opeth’s Damnation is a perfect album as well. Great chill tunes for a late-night bowl. The guitar work reminds me of Frank Marino’s early Mahogany Rush albums.
Hiatt is a national treasure. My two favorite of his are Perfectly Good Guitar and Walk On. He was at the height of his powers during the period he made those two imo.
John Hiatt is my favorite artist. Those two albums are great examples of John in his prime. I would add Slow Turning and Crossing Muddy Waters. I saw him perform several times during this period. With a band and solo with just a guitar. Amazing performance every time.
Definitely agree ST and CMW are great albums too.
I also saw him on both tours for PGG and Walk On...great shows with full band both times.
I put on the Perfectly Good Guitar CD this afternoon while the wife prepared dinner. It had her dancing around the kitchen
When we had dogs , if I played Bring the Family, as soon as Thank You Girl started to play, our dog Zack would wiggle up to my wife and jump up and she would hold his front paws and they would dance. It was the cutest thing. He would do it every time. It was their song.

I especially liked Al di là, I could not get enough of that song.

I still have these vinyls I bought back in the 60’s and 70’s.
And any album Slow Hand plays or sings on.
I would put on my head phones and listen to these albums for hours.
