Tell me what you love about CH. I'd like to know. For now I got a few pouches: Prince Albert. Carter Hall, and SWRA. I keep hearing good things about CH and Velvet--never heard of Velvet until this forum. So next go round ill likely get Velvet. and perhaps Granger.
I like Carter Hall for the price, availability, the nutty flavors I get out of it, and how easily it burns. Basically smokes itself.

Gee, no one mentioned Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend.
Back in the day, it was an OTC pouch tobacco. It has been in my rotation since the 1960s. It's a wonderful American style aromatic with a hint of Latakia.
Sutliff once considered discontinued it, but Jim Amash (Jiminks) almost single-handedly "saved" it.

This forum is the first time I heard of EGR. I'd be glad to try it out one day.

Mail Call: "Codger" order came in. Carter Hall, Prince Albert, and SWRA, along with a new MM acorn pipe. Smoking the Carter Hall right now.

I now see what you all mean by "nuttiness" it's actually quite pleasant. I took no effort in packing this one, it was an easy light and after getting it going, I've only tamped it once so far and it still hasn't gone out. What a pleasant smoke this is so far!

Wonderful! Oh and of course, pics of you smoking it, or it didn't happen!
And if you like the pouch of Carter Hall, you definetly have to try the tub. It's much more milder and tastes so much better to md.. They are almost completely different tobacco's.

All your OTC blends are for the U.S market. If you had a second poll for U.K OTC blends you might get a different result. Incidentally some far sighted person remarked on the forum that there really aren't a lot of U.K OTC blends left kicking around and it was represented by Clan, Gold Block, Condor and St Bruno. I realize I have been away for a while from the U.K but surely they cannot have wiped out so many well known and beloved blends in an act of cultural vandalism?
Out of the 4 most common pipe tobacco in the UK, there's only Gold Block I haven't tried (yet)!
