Surprised that Sutliff has not made that available in bulk.
It's a good one, but I haven't ordered from P&C for a while, so I haven't had it recently. If Sutliff did a bulk version it would probably be available more widely. A few years ago when the 8 oz tins were $18 I'd have been all over them, but now I'd only get it in bulk since those big cans are gone and the 1.5 ounce tins aren't great value

Since they manufacture the H&H blends, I'm very surprised that they haven't cashed in on it in bulk. I remember the sales P&C would have, you could get 18 ounce tins of SPC blends for $18 and Blood Red Moon for $5/tin. Times definitely have changed.

Paladin Black Cherry
Carter Hall
Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic
Middleton Apple
Middleton Cherry
Prince Albert Soft Vanilla
Captain Black Dark
Captain Black Grape
Mixture 79
This list makes me happy. There are three or four here I really like, and thought I was alone.

I’ve got tubs of Paladin in the hoarde cellar. Apple’s one I revisit every fall. In the right mood, I’ve gotten a kick out of Captain’s Grape.

When I started about 6 yrs ago I had a bag of ryo bulk tobacco on hand and a drug store MM Legend. After smoking that for awhile in lieu of cigarette paper...I discovered that there is more to pipe smoking than I had been aware of.
Once I began to find my way around the internet on the subject, I began to really expand my horizons.
I had been back to the drug store to pick up come Captain Black White in a pouch and some of their Blender's gold stuff, but, thereafter, I bought my tobacco online.
I've made a conscious 'study' of many of these codger blends and have enjoyed virtually all I've tried.
The big 3 to me are CH, PA, and SWR. Cost wise and nicotine wise these are safe, sturdy, pleasant tobacco blends although it required that I smoke lots of each blend for awhile to appreciate their subtle attributes.
Once I learned to distinguish between VA, Burley, Perique, Latakia, Izmir, and variables of each, I gravitated to the bulk blends offered by D&R.
If you enjoy straightforward tobacco taste, their line is my pick for best value on the market.
My first codger blend was SWR. Given a choice between the big 3, I'd pick it first. I only buy tubs.

Despite my vote, I do have a sort of familial loyalty to Granger, which my dad smoked from about age 15 until 65 when he quit cold turkey. I still keep a tub on hand. It is a good basic burley rough cut molasses aromatic, often sold as a non-aromatic since that's its reputation. Sadly, they quit selling the foil pouches about ten years ago, that my dad always used, never the tub for him.

I have to admire Mixture No. 79 that has weathered a lot of trash talk. Once you try it, you may have grudging respect or outright admiration like me. A fine tobacco forward dependable aromatic with no frills.

All your OTC blends are for the U.S market. If you had a second poll for U.K OTC blends you might get a different result. Incidentally some far sighted person remarked on the forum that there really aren't a lot of U.K OTC blends left kicking around and it was represented by Clan, Gold Block, Condor and St Bruno. I realize I have been away for a while from the U.K but surely they cannot have wiped out so many well known and beloved blends in an act of cultural vandalism?
They're all still on sale and Gold Block is the only one I haven't tried, but Condor Ready Rubbed appears to be the most readily available.
My local Co-Op stores both sell Condor Ready Rubbed 25g although the Central England Co-Op store (at Holme Hall) it's 5p a pouch cheaper than in the blue & white "Manchester" Co-Op (on Ashgate Road).
I've smoked a few pouches of Condor since buying my latest clay pipe, but have decided (after a relapse) to give up smoking to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, following the death of a friend of mine:
My fundraising page is here:
Thanks a lot!

Thank you everyone for answering the poll.

Carter Hall, followed by Other brands, and Prince Albert won (with SWR very close to PA.)

I've concluded what I think most of us likely knew, we each have our own tastes, likes and dislikes. I've made an order for some of these and hope to find something I can like for a long time. Thanks.
That's awesome! I'm well known for my love of Carter Hall. Which blends did you order?

Tell me what you love about CH. I'd like to know. For now I got a few pouches: Prince Albert. Carter Hall, and SWRA. I keep hearing good things about CH and Velvet--never heard of Velvet until this forum. So next go round ill likely get Velvet. and perhaps Granger.
SWRA has a beautiful room note so make sure you share it.

Gee, no one mentioned Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend.
Back in the day, it was an OTC pouch tobacco. It has been in my rotation since the 1960s. It's a wonderful American style aromatic with a hint of Latakia.
Sutliff once considered discontinued it, but Jim Amash (Jiminks) almost single-handedly "saved" it.
