Joke and Dagger better known as Spy vs Spy of Mad Magazine .By Antonio Prohias . Those little comics in the margin allways made me laugh at thier diabolical nature .

I always liked Krazy Kat, but most people don't remember it. When Calvin would do his "spaceman Spiff" routine, the backdrops in his fantasies were usually Krazy Kat scenes.

@bnb What school did you go to because I thought scholastic book fairs were at DOD schools only

I had scholastic book fairs when I was in school and I was just in an ordinary ol' public school.

Same deal here in Canada too, both east and west coast, from experience. Nothing got me excited like the book fair, save maybe the bookmobile.

Pogo! Krazy Kat! Gasoline Alley! Oldies but goodies!
The Yellow Kid... too old!! LOL!
I was always an Andy Capp fan too.
By the way, if there are any Dick Tracy Fans out there, the strip has a new creative team and has returned to it's "roots." Good stuff! See it here: http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy

Calvin and Hobbes.

Bill Watterson retired at the height of his fame in 1995 because of the limitations of the genre and his refusal to compromise his ideals.

Genius and integrity?

Win.

Li'l Abner knew some extaordinary women and Al Capp sure knew how to draw a good pin-up. I have his book on "The Shmoo", an unforgettable story about sacrifice and greed peppered with hosts of incredibly good-looking girls (and cob-smoking grandpa's I think). Aside from that, Zippy the Pinhead rules. Good old-fashioned polyester and a full-length washing cycle, what more could anybody want?

Those are all the comics subscribed to on my google reader feed.
I also like Doonesbury, The far side, The Boondocks, Dilbert, and Calvin and Hobbes. They're modern classics, no doubt.

I was always fond of an off-the-wall strip called Arnold. It was very popular in Detroit; the Free Press carried it right until the end.

I remain fond of Doonesbury, For Better or Worse, and Pickles.

Just never seemed attracted to them...always thought that they were far from being funny.
Are we still talking about comics?
I'm kinda surprised there aren't more votes for Dilbert ... where are all the cubicle jockeys?
