Just finished off some Sutliff Highland Whiskey bulk. If you like a mild blend (both in tobacco and whiskey flavour) I think you'll really enjoy it. A bit too light for my taste but it seems to capture the essence of sweet malt reasonably well.

If you liked the BR, then I suggest you try Super Value Bourbon Whiskey made by Sutliff or their Bourbon Whiskey proper. Much better blend IMO and less expensive.

If your looking to branch out, two blends I smoke(d) Solani Red and C&D Viuex Carrer both have a whiskey topping, with red label acutally being scotch.

If you end up trying Solani Red I’d say smoke it quick (like within two weeks) once you pop the tin the whiskey topping fades over time. I had a tin I jarred up and the whiskey topping was gone by the time I got to the end, like a year later.

Vieux Carrer on the other hand has pretty much stayed the same even after sitting in the jar.

As long as we’re mixing our bourbons and brandies, I did find that adding 10-20% Lane Black Raspberry to Bokrum Riff Bourbon Mixture makes a tasty blend that harkens me back to my youth terrorizing the countryside on snowmobiles, a little lit on blackberry brandy.

I’d like to find a good, tart Va/KY/Per blend with a little hint of whiskey…
C&D Bourbon Bleu is Va/Perique/DFKY.

Sorry to say guys that I fail to find the BR Bourbon qualities you describe... For me it's one of the worst blends I've tasted. And I have no high standards at all...
I hear you, 20 something years ago Borkum Riffs Bourbon was one of the first blends I tried and burned my mouth on. My memories of that experience confirmed all the worst one star reviews of it. But that was a long time ago, perhaps in a fit of nostalgia, I recently decided to retry some of those first classic pouch blends I managed to scorch my mouth on, and you know what, I have found many things to like about them. Both Captain Black, Borkum Riff and Amphora blends have surprisingly enough to myself, actually made it into my regular rotation. I think other than more experience smoking a pipe what has helped me is just taking them as they are with no expectations and I've surprised myself about how much enjoyment they've provided me.

Any thoughts about Rattray`s Bagpiper`s dream or Rattray`s sir William? They fit in this category. I have not tried those but thinking I should order some.

I've been smoking a tin of Holger Danske Black and Bourbon. The first couple bowls were ok but a bit meh. But now it's really growing on me, I'm not sure if it was having it open a couple weeks and the flavor has 'gelled' together but I'm really liking it now. It burns clean and dry with a nice sweetish bourbon, vanilla, fruit notes type of flavor. Like I said, it's really grown on me. It won't be replacing Borkum Riff Bourbon for me, but when I feel like a bit sweeter dessert type whiskey blend it hits the spot. It's made by Mac Baren and reasonably priced as well.
