Interestingly I could never get on the P&C site as I got a screen blocking it and quoting GDPR (I am in Europe)
Now I can,but it wont make any difference to me as I have never bought Sutcliff or any tobacco from US due to importing being banned
I am happy with my UK friends visiting and bringing G&H as personal amounts

Find more than a handful that will admit that they are smokers, tobacco users, or nicotine addicts. Lots of folks like bathroom tissue. That doesn't mean there's a wiping community. Too much focus is given to belonging to something and finding validation from others.

It's very easy to find a handful at a pipe show, and I guarantee that many of them will readily agree that they consider themselves members of a community, even if you or I don't particularly view ourselves as very involved in it. Think objectively. This isn't LEGO collecting. The simple fact that anyone, in theory, can make their own pipe, trade it with another's, find a third guy who managed to blend his own blend, and critique it with a fourth demonstrates that a community, by definition, can quickly arise around the use of pipes without even having to involve STG, despite STG's best efforts. You super-special independent loners and free-thinkers don't have to consider yourselves members of that community, and can happily continue to take it personally whenever someone (the horror!) makes a generalization, but the adamant denial that the term can or should ever apply to the people who smoke, make, and generally appreciate pipes is a bit silly at this point.

And I say this as someone who 1. doesn't even attend his local pipe club and 2. hates when "community", or even worse, "family", is applied to everything from being a Disney movie watcher to being a regular tooth-brusher.

I am blessed that my fiancee usually enjoys when I inadvertently nerd out about pipes. I think the fact I regularly resell many of them on eBay helps ward off the battle-axeian tendencies...

I placed 2 orders for the 'Lights Out' combo on P&C. The page said Only 4 Left! - So I had to get them. I topped off my order to get the shipping discount and placed the order.

The combo went out of stock so P&C sent me the 4oz bulk that I added.

I have called twice and both times they said that they only charged my PayPal for the 4oz bulk since the combo item was no longer available. My PayPal currently shows that they charged me for the full amount. The second time I called, P&C said that the full amount is only a hold amount and that it COULD take 45 days for the remainder of the charge to drop off. Well that sucks. It's now been 48 days. I guess I'll need to call them again.

I've never had a problem with P&C in over 200 orders. Customer service has been good to me. Even replaced a pipe for free and overnighted it. You all complain too much.

I've bought from P&C for more than a decade without serious issue. There has been the occasional "back order" that didn't materialize, once they sent the wrong tobacco, and when they installed the world's worst order tracking system about 8 years ago, my order was delayed for a week. Their packing is shit and their customer service is spotty, which isn't unique to P&C. But nothing serious over which that I would bite the dog or shoot a neighbor.

And, I terminated my account with P&C last year because of the shitty way they had treated other customers with regard to refunding money owed due to errors they made. A company that badly run is a security risk in this cyber criminal riddled world. So I expunged, or replaced any personal account data on me with fake data and then closed my account.

There are still options besides P&C for those who hate them, such as SPC, 4 Noggins, Iwan Ries, Mars Cigars, and many others.

So long Sutliff! You were done in by a bunch of Viking raiders, almost all of your children have been killed, and the rest will be raped. It is an unjust ending to 175 years of supplying tobaccos, both boutique, special order, and mass market, to generations of satisfied customers.

You will be missed.

Then had 3 ceramic jars arrive smashed in the last order I made (only because they were the only ones left with H&H in stock) because for an almost $800 order they threw everything into a heap in a 3'x4'x3' box with no packing material.
Nothing on that either.

STG's business model.. buy up enough of the market and you don't have to serve the customer. Most will submit and the few who don't after you fuck them over, oh well. They'll just be told they're crybabies by the bootlickers who still crawl to ya lol.

I wonder... we both reside in PA lol.. maybe I can make that extra excise tax i always had to pay work for my advantage.

But honestly I've just kinda gotten to sunk cost fallacy territory with it yanno. I help run/am taking over a family business so my time is just worth more per hour at that than I've already sunk into trying to make them keep their end of the bargain.

Lessons learned, moving on. I just put my experience here so that maybe others can learn from it without as much pain but there will always be those who have to take the opposite side... again, I just smile, shake my head, and keep it movin' with them too haha.
