I did a search of the site for Falcon reviews and all I could find was what blends folks were smoking out of them. I don't currently own one, but I am interested in one of the bent ones I've been looking at. I was just wanting to get a little feed back from people who have smoked them before I buy,

I have two falcon stems and five or six bowls including a block meerschaum. They’re fine but not my favorites, nowhere near what I expected. They are not great smokers during the summertime heat as they don’t cool down, but being able to smoke multiple bowls back-to-back when it’s cooler outside is nice. As the fall and winter continue I may get more use out of them.

One of the fun things about Falcon pipes is that you can purchase just one stem and use it with multiple bowls—it’s great for someone on a budget. Perhaps, it’s because of laziness, or I just like having complete pipes, I usually pair one bowl with one stem and create one whole new pipe.

Can be a bit leaky, dottle-wise, at the seal of the bowl. So long as you flick, or use the little noose thingummy to soak it up, this can be mitigated.

I suspect it's nearly impossible to get a bad smoke from a Falcon. I've got briar bowls and a meer bowl, I use them mostly as travel or outdoorsy pipes. Don't bother with the little dry rings, they're not necessary.

In general my earlier stems have much nicer bits, so it may be worth trying to source an estate and clean it up. But the modern, larger bowls are better for a longer smoke.

I have both the chrome and international bent stems, and prefer the chrome. The international has a plastic cover and feels kind of cheap; it also has a smaller airway, which I don’t like as much.

Overall, I’m very happy with my Falcons. It always smokes cool and dry: once I was smoking a large bowl of Blood Red Moon, at times really chugging away at it, and the smoke never got hot. And I can tailor the pipe to the circumstances. If I have a shorter time, I can use a small bowl; a larger bowl is good for a longer time and/or flakes.

It’s hard to go wrong with a Falcon, I think!

I have not ever had the inclination to obtain a Falcon pipe, so have never smoked one and cannot comment about the smoking qualities. The appearance and style is not appealing to me, nor is the multiple bowl and stem mix and match. I wouldn’t want one and if ever gifted one I would re-gift it to someone else. I’m partly surprised because there must be some technical or engineering aspects that should interest me, but no, they don’t. I can’t explain further, they just look naff to me. But of course many of you love them. To each his own! Am I alone in my prejudice here, or does anyone feel similar?

You should get one lol. Very versatile; I have a briar bowl, a meer lined and a golf ball meer - anything ghosty smokes fine in those and my briars can live in peace. Some blends, like Revor, seem made for a Falcon. You're missing out ;) puffy

Haven't actually smoked any Revor Plug in my Falcon yet, I'll have to investigate this...

I didn't like the looks of them at first, then I got one on a whim. Now I smoke them regularly, with 4 different stems and 5 bowls.

They also got me interested in other metal pipes. I have one on the way that uses Kirsten parts and bowls. May try to get an actual Kirsten too at some point.

The damn things mortify me! To my mind it is a device made from melted down Colt 45 malt liquor cans with a stem comprised of recycled Acme brake cable and a bowl formed from a hollowed out 1930 door knob taken from the entrance of a deranged hobbit burrow. I actually own one that was the property of my late father so it is probably circa 1970s but I have not smoked the thing in decades. I always associate the pipes with people from 'Up North' in the U.K on holiday in Blackpool. Usually in the company of their chunky wife called Beryl walking along the sea front wearing Jesus creeper sandals with socks on and a blue nylon flat hat whilst listing to George Formby's greatest hits on an ancient Sony Walkman.

To provide a contrasting opinion, I got my first Falcon pipes about 3 weeks ago and after smoking them every day for 3 weeks have so thoroughly enjoyed them that I'm pretty sure I'm going to sell almost all my other pipes (aside from my Savinelli 401 Churchwarden for taking to the Renaissance Festival and a couple Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentlemans for outdoor beater pipe use) and just smoke Falcons from here on out.

With most pipes the last 1/3 of the bowl of tobacco ends up getting too wet and harsh from moisture and tar buildup to smoke all the way down to the bottom and I end up throwing it out, but Falcon's humidome system does a really amazing job of drawing moisture and tar away from the tobacco at the bottom of the bowl so I can smoke it all the way to the bottom without it ever turning harsh or wet or the flavor of the tobacco becoming off. There is zero wasted tobacco with the Falcon system, and not having to throw away 1/3 of my tobacco every time I smoke is a pretty awesome thing! Never having to run a pipe cleaner down the stem to clear out a gurgle mid-smoke is a great bonus too.

I also like that I can smoke the same stem all day and just swap bowls depending on the type of blend I want to smoke, or stick a meerschaum bowl on it and just smoke it all day with no worries. Really the only suggestion I'd make regarding Falcons from my experience so far is to not bother buying Falcon's dry rings and just make your own instead. All you need to do is tightly wrap a pipe cleaner around a pen to make a coil out of it then take a pair of wire cutters and snip off pipe cleaner rings. They work just the same and cost 1/10th as much, if that.

In any case, I can safely say that out of the 16 pipes I own, I have never had a cooler, drier, and more flavorful smoke all the way down to the bottom of the bowl than with my Falcons and at this point I don't have much desire to smoke any other style of pipe. puffy
