I'm on the board of directors of a small dog rescue and social media like Facebook have been a HUGE boon to our mission. Through Facebook, we are have been able to get more volunteers, more donations, and ultimately more adoptions. Like anything else, it is what you make of it.
Yes, kids can over use it, but kids can overuse anything.

No facebook for me. If I want someone to know about something I will call them and meet them for a beer...a real beer...in a real bar....with a real friend. Imagine that.
