Was it me or was the background sounds of the race louder than the commentary on the ESPN/Sky race coverage? It was very frustrating.

I hope and wouldn’t be surprised if the championship comes down to the last lap of the last race. We’ll see, I’ll be watching every minute of every session!
You are right. That Scottish pit reporters voice is also for some reason, unnerving.

Crazy that both McLaren's were disqualified. It's going to be one a horse race now to the end.

Oscar's only 24 points behind, too.
Lando can't afford mistakes, now. If he fucks it into the wall or has a mechanical failure then Oscar and Max are poised to take advantage. Next weeks race has a sprint race so there's even more points on offer and chances to catch Lando. I'd love to see Max somehow win the title. It wasn't that long ago that it looked like he had no chance.

I did read a while ago that because McClaren were so far ahead they'd stopped developing this years car as much and were pouring more resources into next years. On the other hand, Red Bull never stopped developing this years car. At the time I thought it was a mistake as they had no chance of winning the title so might as well put the resources into next years car. Seems I was wrong.

McLaren seems to have the car, but just keep making boneheaded moves, on and off the track.

Not an exciting race in terms of overtaking, but it sets things up relatively evenly for the final race.

I think McLaren will screw it up.
I really hope they do. Max was over 100 points behind at one point in the season so it'd be an incredible comeback if he somehow managed to pull it off.

I think they will too. Qatar was an epic failure for them. Piastri looked so damn good all weekend.
I couldn't believe that they didn't pit behind the safety car. Big mistake to make at this point of the season. If they make any mistakes like that in the final race Max will be ready to pounce. They can't afford anymore fuck ups.

I felt so bad for Piastri. He seemed completely dejected. Watching Max and Sainz hooting and hollering for their P1 and P3 finishes, and he's on the P2 podium looking like he'd rather be anywhere else.

Regardless of the fact that he most likely won't win the WDC, I hope he has a great race on Sunday.

The best F1 championship since 2010.

It's also a very weird championship at the same time.
Max is both the underdog gunning for the biggest comeback in F1 history and by far the driver who would be least impacted by winning.

Max on pole but with Lando right behind him it's looking likely that the Englishman will take his first world championship. McClaren have said they'll use team orders if necessary so I'd say that the only way Max is gonna win his 5th championship is if Lando has a dnf.

For Max to even be in the position of having a chance at the title going into the final race is an incredible achievement. He was over a hundred points behind back in August so it really has been some turnaround. Whoever does the business and wins it I just hope it's a close, exciting race. May the best man win🏎️👍

Bit of a let down, really. There were one or two tense moments but McClaren and Lando always looked like they had it well in hand.

It's a shame they don't have the final race at a track like Silverstone. Plenty of overtaking opportunities and the weather often comes into play. It rained today in England so if it had been held here it would've been a million times more exciting than Abu Dhabi.

Oh well, well done Lando and roll on next year. The biggest changes in decades should hopefully throw up some surprises.

See you all back here in 2026, guys👍

Well done for Norris. He was under significant pressure but didn’t crack and avoided making a big mistake on the day when it really mattered. McLaren ran a good strategy with the hard tires, and put Piastri on Verstappen to force the pace probably quicker than Max would have wanted. Tsunoda was clumsy and sophomoric and unable to hold up Norris mid-race. Verstappen finished only two points shy in an inferior car, with a team that lost Newey and Horner during the season. That team gave the appearance of being a mess midway, with a horrible car. So one could argue Max was really the driver of the year, having turned it around, winning 6 of the last 9 races, and 10 podium finishes in a row to end the season. Verstappen had 8 victories, compared to 7 each for Norris and Piastri. Max had 8 poles, Lando 7, Piastri 6. But the McLarens were more consistent, despite Las Vegas and Qatar (and Lando’s DNF at Zandvoort) with 18 podium finishes for Norris and 16 for Oscar, to Max’s 15. And there you go! What will next season bring? Ferrari, you broke my heart again, but it is so hardened and calloused by now, I am resigned to disappointment.

That is a great summary and an exciting ending to the season. As I get older, and the last race completes, it makes me a little melancholy.
Watching Louis Hamilton struggle was also sad.
The changes coming in 2026 sound puzzling.

This was my first season following F1. I gravitated toward Piastri early on for some reason that I can't quite pinpoint. It may have been that he seemed calm and cool and not arrogant as he rose to the top of the leaderboard while some of the other drivers seemed like real douchebags.

I disliked Verstappen at first but have really grown to like his dry humor. Listening to him rip apart McLaren's "Papaya Rules" over the radio had me rolling even though it was my favorite driver was it my driver who was affected. He seems like a good dude too. I mean he has cats!

My daughter has been watching for a few years and told me at the start of the year that Zak Brown is the Jerry Jones of F1. As a 50 year Cowboys fan, I can see the similarities.

Looking forward to next year with a new car and new features and a new team. Curious to see what Cadillac puts out and how the grid fares with two additional drivers on it. My kid and I are starting to talk about making the trip to Austin for the race next year.
