The seller has a stellar rating. I don't think it's intentionally deceptive, but I suspect they may be turning a blind eye to the truth and claiming ignorance, especially since I wrote to them informing them of the error, but they weren't swayed.

Almost matching table top, at least as to quality.

This seller is standing firm, middle finger extended. Here's our communication thread:
Me:
You're clearly an honest seller, so I thought you'd want to know that this pipe is definitely not a Dunhill.
starfish378:
Thank you, yes we are honest sellers. However, what does the D & R stand for if not Dunhill.? Kind regards~Posies Uniques .

Your previous message
Me:
I'm not sure why "D&P" or "D&R" leads you to assume Dunhill. There are dozens of manufacturers of pipes whose name starts with D. Dunhill pipes famously have a single white dot in the top of the stem, which yours lacks.
"D & P Pipe Works was owned by D. P. Levitas and located in Sparta, Alleghany County, North Carolina. The company changed its name to Sparta Pipe Works and still later to Sparta Industries."
- from pipephil.eu ( http://pipephil.eu/logos/en/logo-d1.html )
Inidentally, I became aware of your listing due to this humorous thread about this listing: http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/extremely-rare-dunhill-or-not
starfish378:
Thank you for the info. We are just going to leave it go and see what happens. Appreciate all you help~Posies Uniques
Me:
I see. In that case, the only responsible thing for me to do is to report your now intentionally deceptive listing as fraudulent. I will be sharing the contents of this thread on the pipesmagazine.com forum as well.

starfish378:
Do what you have to do, if that makes you happy. How do we know you aren't a fraud and like to harrass sellers. It;s a two way street, so leave us alone, go do voluntary work if you have the time to screen sellers & harrass them. You aren't trustworthy.

OK, that was before your exchange. Just makes me think a stellar rating is worth all of 5 bucks, which barely gets you a cuppa joe.

I'm in no way defending this seller but at the time of this post "Starfish" has 130 items for sale including this pipe. Of the 129 other items NONE are tobacciana related.
Is everybody sure the seller is a scumbag?
Looks more like a picker.
I'm not cutting them any slack. I'm just pointing out the obvious.
The seller is clearly boorish, but I don't think they're crooks.
