Experimenting with a Tin of Tobacco I don't Like

I got this ten of mango vanilla tobacco and I noticed that was from 2021 and I thought nice I can try age tobacco without having the seller it but at some point I guess the ten lost its seal over time and it was dry. Try to smoke it anyways and it had like a really high sour note. So I placed it in a baggie with some orange peels did help but could use a bit more milling out. Do you think it'll be a good idea to add a strawberry into the bag environment.

Never heard of someone doing that but if it's a tin you could justify throwing away in case of mold, than why not?
Not saying strawberries will create mold but just in case something funky happens etc

Well I wouldn't have the strawberries directly on the tobacco I was thinking about maybe putting a couple strawberries in the bag and then the tobacco will start absorbing the moisture and hopefully give it a little hint of strawberries.

Either that or is this mix some cherry tobacco to have combat the sharp notes

Life is too short to smoke bad pipes and bad cigars. Personally i wouldn’t bother with something extreme, i get it’s an experiment but yes could mold on you very very quickly, I’d just move on to a tin you like and toss the other. Maybe toss it in some 1Q to cut down on goopies or something.

I’ve seen strawberries grow mold on themselves very quickly—I’m not sure they’d be the best candidate for putting in the same bag as the tobacco. Maybe a shot glass of a liqueur (cherry?) in the same bag for several days or weeks might be safer?

Yeah you guys are probably a right. I really don't like westing anything if I can still use it but There no point if I'm not enjoying my tobacco. If I can't use it for anything I can always just put in some compost

Fruit is a poor way to rehydrate tobacco.

I've heard of using apple slices(s). Otherwise, people typically reydrate using distilled water, alcohol/spirit, or Boveda pack.

The only experiment I try with bad tobacco is to see if I can sink a field goal in the trash can. You can put hollandaise sauce on dog turds and it will still taste like crap.

Yeah. I’m hard pressed to believe a tin of gooper doo like that lost anything after a year.

I've heard of apple slices and lettuce, but never tried it.

I did try using a damp paper towel, but it was a failure that I would chalk up to use error.

I would either cellar the tin and come back to it later (tastes change), try mixing with another blend (maybe cherry with mango and vanilla would be decent or a strong burley for pep), make a semi-plug (possibly with another tobacco), give it away (this forum is great at gifts), or pitch it (life's too short and tobacco is relatively cheap if a tin doesn't work out).

I'm as frugal as the next guy, But I'd chunk it to the trash.

I don't waste either.. I waste nothing useful, but if I have no use for the thing how can throwing it away be wasteful.

I'd throw a can of beets away in a heartbeat, but I'd rather starve than eat beets.

I once tried with several drug store blends to add an apple slice to them in a jar. I let it sit for a couple weeks, opened the jar and what I had was mold. Moldy drug store tobacco. I threw it out, went out and bought better tobacco.
If you are dead set on trying to impart strawberry flavor have you considered the cork from a strawberry wine and add the cork to the jar? (Aka the McClelland whiskey stove)

I completely screwed up a can of HH Acadian Perique. Tried every which way to re-hydrate that sucker, no tatse whatsoever after i started dicking around with it.
Damn was I pissed.
