Are there any rope tobaccos that can be ordered from Estervals? I noticed they have Sammy G Black XX. Curious if anyone knows of any others. They have many brands I am not familiar with and I’m having trouble searching on their website.

There are not a lot of rope tobacco's readily available, especially not when the shop (like estervals) has no own production. You may have better luck looking at Motzek/TAK, the old Motzek Strang is highly regarded, the new one is newer version with a slightly changed recipe by new owner. I never tried it, but it seems a nice tobacco looking at the ingredients, they do have some other cakes and plugs that seem interesting (high Perique percentage cake for example).

I think Estverals service is top notch, they also use one of the better international shippers (DHL). A few other shippers from europe Al Pascia, Tabaccheria Corti and Altinay in Turkey use DHL for international shipping and most can't complain on the shipping rates and delivery times. For my last shipment from Altinay I got a invoice when the pipe was still in Turkey for VAT and handling costs for a quicker handling at customs. @woodsroads got his SS21 package faster than I normally get it my tobacco which is a lot closer. No complaint, just a observation.

Sammy G?

They have Samuel Gawith Esquire Black XX and Brown No4. Black XX is challenging to like on a good day, took me 2 years to finish a tin. Brown No4 is much better, but still I prefer the Gawith Hoggarth ropes (caveat never tried the black G&H ropes, I can't imagine them being much different from Black XX).

Sammy G was my shortening of Samuel Gawith.
Thank you Karam and Dan.

Well that’s great news! I’ve always enjoyed ordering with Esterval’s in the past, I’m glad to hear they are doing good biz again. I’ll probably never have to order with them again but it’s nice for those of you stocking your cellars and it’s nice to know the option is there just in case I want to stock up on more if my favorites.
