I’m late to the game but I was late to the game of English blends too. I started the pipe hobby around 20 years ago, primarily ropes/twists & VaPer, codger burley and some aros. For some reason I avoided English blends but to my loss and ignorance I gave it a try and now have it’s in my primary rotation for the last decade+. Granted I’m still limited in my English palate and only tend to smoke EMP, MM965, Nightcap, Elizabethan Mixture and Chelsea Morning (tend to smoke a lot of what I like..LOL). I have a good quantity of aged tins that should last me. Not sure why I avoided but glad I saw the light :col:

What do you think,boys.....Peterson 965,........Arango:Balkan Supreme.....which is more natural..more quality.....?????
Subjective of course. For my tastes which aren't very sophisticated I prefer Balkan Supreme. But 965 is quite good. Admittedly I also have a hard time ignoring cost, so the smoke for price satisfaction with BS is fairly high in my case. Nightcap, BS, and for a touch more Oriental SG Skiff Mixture are some preferences, at least this month.

965 is always in my rotation. Quiet Nights is a regular for me also. I found the MM American Patriot is a good uncomplicated English that can be smoked all day in a cob when I'm working in the yard. Russ did a great job for MM in my opinion.

Had Gaslight and/or Presbyterian on my mind today, and Peterson Squire was on the queue. Then something happened. Looked for Va/Per and narrow pipe for the smoke. Tomorrow would be a better day for English.

October is Latakia starting month for me, the Fall just hits all the right notes for it. I have my favorites of course but this year I'll try some others. I started with C&D Star of the East Flake...meh. I was disappointed after all the good reviews it had, too bland and boring. Next G.L.Pease Kensington which is a Balkan not an English and I'll finish that tin of an excellent Pease, Blackpoint.
