Something similar happened to me once. They seller actually replied with "I cant sell this for what you won the auction for". Ebay did nothing. Ebay is a sham but until something better comes along it is a necessary sham.

The seller probably didn't get as much as he hoped and didn't want to pay the extra money for a minimum bid amount. I've had it happen many times to me...contact the seller, and watch if it gets resisted...then report the seller to Ebay

I've gotten some very good deals and this Douche is the first to give me any grief. I know nothing will come of it but I can annoy him until I leave feedback.

I've had auctions cancelled on me and it's always a disappointment. Some people value their money more than their integrity.

I've had to cancel auctions when I discovered problems with the item I was selling, like damage that I had missed previously. But I always promptly offered up a sound explanation and sincere apology.

I sold a great Hall teapot on ebay 10 years ago. Guy bought it paid for it and as I was packing it I noticed a chip. I refunded him and messaged him. Back then it was all via mail. I got a positive feedback from the guy once he received his $ back. The guy should have messaged you, even if it was a bs reason.

I would contact eBay legal with a copy of this account, try to leave your emotions in check and just state the facts, you won the item, include item number, it was paid for by you, show PayPal payment and then seller cancels and supposedly refunds your payment, show payment did not clear from account sou are out the item and the payment, make it clear what you want to rectify this debacle, good luck.

Finally a reply from the miscreant Ebay non-seller;
Hi. I'm sorry I had to cancel the sale - I posted the wrong batch of pipes (these were my wife's dad's). I have to explain the refund, though. When I immediately refunded your payment (or thought I had), PayPal showed me having a balance of at least 3x that amount - I thought it was done. Then I saw the amount drawn from both my PayPal and my bank account (making me overdrwan at my bank). PayPal has not taken responsibility for this. I will, however, take responsibility for it and get the $60 to you by the end of the week - I don't appreciate your rush to discredit me on ebay, though. It's only been a few days and I am a very busy working family man. Cheers
