IMG_20230118_143443286.jpgJust got this Estate pipe and it has a dull spot on the bowl shaped like a thumbprint. It's not a burn out just looks like its been warn in one spot. Or maybe someone spilt something on the finish. Not sure but, any cheap easy fixes? Preferably a common household product I already have laying around. Thanks.

Yup I agree. It's be easier to take it down, and start fresh then try to mask that spot. Much easier than you think! And who knows, maybe you will like it without wax!

That's a common spot on pipes for cigarette scorches when left in an ashtray. It could be that someone removed a scorch mark and took the finish off with it, leaving that dull patch.

Starting fresh is probably the best option if it bothers you.

That makes sense. I was thinking someone had a habit of rubbing their thumb back and forth on it for years.

I think it just looks like it was scuffed up a bit. I’d buff it out. You could use an old clean terry cloth towel and some Rottenstone to bring back the shine.
