Dream Come True, Porsche Cayman

I'm the second owner and have had it 6 years and put 4,000 miles on it, in fact I've driven it twice this year, first time to get gas, didn't put a stabilizer in it so it wasn't happy and bucked like crazy. Got it to a garage and he fiddled with it and got it t running then put Marine Grade Stable in it and it ran decent, went to the gas station and filled it up. Parked when I got home and medical stuff got in the way over the next two weeks I never ran it, plus my Weimaraner can no longer get in or out of any vehicle w/o human assist and I miss our drives to and from our hour walks we took. To say the least it's crazy to leave it sitting there idle when it could be being enjoyed by someone, there's less than 10% of stuff to do and it will be 100% restored, as I said, I'm sad.

I bumped into this at our local gas station. We were the original owners (it is the reason behind my screen-name, that was our license plate). Sold it five years ago and bought the MGB. We enjoy the B on every semi-sunny day but this was one fun family car.

Congrats on a sweet ride. Anytime you want to go head to head with my ride, you just let me know. I am driving a pristine Yugo.
I would suggest getting a Valentine One Radar detector. I had one for both of my Jaguars and I never once got a ticket. The One gives you 360 degrees of radar protection, front back, and sides. I would drive 95 in 45's and never got caught. I would normally due 140 on the highway. Be smart, you know you are going to drive that car like an animal, don't lose your license in the first 2 weeks.

Very nice Nate. I could not fit my left nut in that car and, if I did manage to squeeze in, I would need someone with the Jaws of Life to get me out. It is a beauty though.

peck, I was thinking the exact same thing. I am in my old man stage of cars so I drive a Lexus RX 350 suv. It is easy to get in and out and it is very comfy. I wish I could fit into that Porsche. Those cars are not designed for people of my height 6'4". The Porsche with the best legroom was the old 928's, those were the bomb.

Peck n Harris, I can understand why one might believe it's a difficult car to get in/out of, but it's worse than that. Getting into the car is a bit like trying to crap in a hole in the ground. Find something to grab hold of and slowly fall into position. Once your in its all good, but the in/out is brutal. I'm certain those who witness me doing it must thinking "that poor man".

Shockingly good thanks for asking! It'll take a few months to really know if the surgery helped, but so far so good. I'm fully recovered from this last surgery.

Wow, a four hour drive with your back condition. Glad you survived in good shape! A sweet ride. Had a 356a in the 60's and she is long gone, dammit.

Prior to this car, I never gave the color tan much thought, but damn there's just something so posh about it and the contrast between the black and the tan. I absolutely love it! the leather on the dash looks like to would be soft the touch, pillow like.

Advice appreciated. To be honest, with the PDK shifting, I wouldn't even know how. Other than the occasional high speed highway driving, I'm not a speed freak.

Tan interior looks awesome with black exterior, it's part of what drew me to mine when I first saw it. It also opens up the cabin, makes it feel roomier. As I said before though, it's high-maintenance, shows dirt, wear and scratches way more than the darker colors. If you live in a hot, sunny clime and intend to drive it more than on weekends and/or park it outside a lot (say, at work), the tan carpet fades badly. I strongly suggest you get the windows filmed. (The clear stuff blocks UV just as well as the dark, according to the specs, if you don't like the dark look). Also get some UV-block spray and apply it to the carpet, especially the back shelf.
I understand there's something called Sport Chrono with Launch Control that's (I think) an option w/PDK. Not sure if it can be configured to burn rubber though :D Idk how tread wear is with the mid-engined Cayman, but rubber doesn't last long on a 911 (especially the rears) even with normal, sedate driving. And rubber for it is $$$$$

Thanks for the advice! Luckily the house I just bought has a garage and I don't drive that much at all. I plan on taking care of this car for it'll have to last. I'm planning to install an aftermarket SAT NAV next. I'm not a fan of the Porsche stereo at all. Any advice as far as that's concerned?
