Brings back memories Nate. I looked and looked and looked. And eventually bought this sight-unseen from Houston. I live in Indy, bought a one way airfare, flew to Houston with a cashier's check in my hand, drove the car from the airport to the owner's house, handed over the check, and drove home 1100 miles. Dumbest thing I've SOLD in my life.

@papipeguy: great music video. Imagine Nate in that yellow jumpsuit bustin' those moves in the courtroom!

Good luck, Nate. You may need to get Peck down from Canada to get you out of jail.

Jmatt, that car is wicked!!! Curious why you sold it?! I was actually about to buy one from Indy Honda!! Buying a one way ticket with cashiers check, but this one popped up in Atlanta and I jumped on it. I used a service called Lemon Squad, a brilliant service that sends a mechanic to any city in the country to inspect vehicles. They do a great job and make purchases like this FAR less stressful. They take around 50photos, even under the car.. They even do an thorough evaluation of the market value.
Jack, I'll get Peck on retainer ASAP!! We pipers should allways have a lawyer from our pool on retainer!!
Al, I very seriously wish I could afford to have a "daily driver" and a trailer!!! Spending weekends at our local Barbers Indy Car Track for track days would be seriously bad ass!!! I can't wait for the couple hour drive home!! When I got to college, I sold my car and bought a brand new GSXR750 having NEVER even sat on a bike, but I understood the mechanics. I picked it up and taught myself how to ride. That first day was the happiest day of my life. I rode for a good 20hrs straight. Today reminds me of that day. I'm excited beyond belief!
Insty, I've been up since 1am!!! It's now 3:13am and I'm counting down!!! When I first sat in a Cayman, it was so awkward getting in I couldn't stop laughing. I must've looked like a 100yr old guy trying to sit on the ground.
Thanks guys!! I'll post a photos showing off later today.... unless I wreck. This PDK shifting in rush hour Atlanta traffic has me a tiny bit nervous. If I understand correctly, and I rarely do, you CAN drive in full automatic mode.....? I'm hoping anyways.
Whipple, Thanks!! It was exactly the color combo I'd hoped to find!

Lol Newbroom... ain't that the truth! This is NOT a car my surgeon would recommend. The surgery has turned out brilliantly!!! I'm actually feeling better than I have in quite some time. I drive so little that I can't fathom getting in and out a few times a week will hurt me. If I was working and driving lots I'd not likely be buying this car. For my purposes it'll be a good time :)

Nice one Nate! You have great taste in color combos. My Carrera is the same. '09 is a smart move, it's got the 9A1-based engine that doesn't tend to selfdestruct. I wouldn't have an automatic (and however people try to spin it, that's what a PDK is) in a sports car but I'm in the minority these days it seems. And probably if I had back problems I'd feel differently. Or was a girly man and couldn't figure out how to drive a stick. ( :D JK )

@jmatt If you mean selling that 993 was the dumbest thing you did in your life, I'd have to agree. But who knew? I would've expected prices on the 993 to skyrocket when the 996 came out watercooled and butt ugly. But after 15 years it was quite a surprise. If I'd known I'd have bought a couple or three turbos 10 years ago and put em in storage.

I can't believe I actually got it. A few things had to go right and they did. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this car, but driving in bumper to bumper traffic for hours on end in an unfamiliar car in a huge unfamiliar city in a torrential thunder/lightening storm.... I'm tired, agitated, sore, and going to f'ing bed. A two hour drive turned into a four hour drive at breakneck speeds of around 5mph. I hate that f'ing city!!! Glad to be home!! I'll be all sunshine and roses tomorrow :)

Shutterbug, the appeal for me of the PDK, as you gleaned, was because some days my back begs for automatic, especially in traffic. Till now I've always had stick driven vehicles. I completely understand the desire for these things. My first car was a Toyota Supra that my father taught me on and I've loved them ever since. The. PDK gives me options a stick can't. I drove home on auto, but I'll play with the PDK tomorrow. I must admit that I'm curious. Also I'm with you on mechanical watches and fountain pens. Substantial, beautifully put together, highly engineered objects are my weakness, be it a DuPont Lighter or a MB fountain pen. In a disposable world, these things are special.

Man, a part of me is jumping for joy for you Nate and a part of me is very sad because I have to give up my cherished ride, my 1995 Mercedes SL500 with 154,000 original miles!!

Here's my dream Nate, an origional oil painting. Artist had painted pictures for Will Rogers ,Lindbergh , and President Johnson. My wife and I love roses and I found this one at an Estate sale I bought it, it's in our bedroom so every morning I look at it and get an Attitude Adjustment.

I know that feeling Brad!! Beautiful painting!!! I'm a HUGE fan of Van Gogh. All efforts to obtain "Crows in A Wheat Field", his final painting, have proven futile. I have a poster of it and love looking at it despite it lacking the dimensions of an actual painting.
banjo, thank you!! Why must you sell your beloved Merc?!

I sold my 993 C4S because it was turning into a garage queen, and I'm a driver, not a collector. So I sold it for 43k back in 2008. Apparently today if I had left it under its cover in the garage, it'd be worth 150k. Oops.

Nate, that is one damned cool car. Get some rest, take your anti-inflammatories, and when you're feeling good, take the wheel. Oh boy. This one's the love of your life. My wife still has a framed photo of her sixties Volvo sports sedan. Turn off the sound system and listen to that engine! Ice cream for the ears. Vroom-vroom.
