Through his albums and videos, I've become a huge fan of this guy. IMO he's the smartest comic around and the last of the "true, old school comics". This morning it was announced he's playing locally and I grabbed tickets. I can't remember the last time i bought tickets to anything. Stanhope and NIN are the only tickets I'd buy. Any other fans or anyone seen him live?

I've seen some of his videos and heard audios of his, but I can't get past his constant mj references. I get it, you smoke pot. Move on. Now, Bill Burr, I'd stand in line for that.
But to each his own.

I like Doug Stanhope, but I would have given a toe to have seen Bill Hicks live. He was the finest comedian to ever grace a stage with his presence. I very rarely ever go out to shows anymore. I saw dozens and dozens of concerts when I was in my teens and early twenties, but I am now "crowd averse"! I don't like being around large groups of people and like them even less when they are inebriated. I'm afraid my moshing days are long since past. Hell, I don't even like going to sports games, as I'd rather just stay home and sit comfortably in my la-z-boy with a better view of the events. Pretty much the only exception to this I'd going to the drag races, I attend the U.S. Nationals every year. There is no sensation quite like being near a top fuel dragster or funny car when it leaves the starting line. No earthly sound can stand up to it, loud enough to knock you down!

Question: anyone into Stanhope? Anyone see him live?
Answer: too much drugs! Bill Hicks rules!!! Bill Burr!!
:)
If we all got together in person and responded to questions, to each other, face to face the way we do here... we'd sound like f'd up mental patients. I'm as guilty as anyone, but I'm kind of a dick and this sort of thing is to be expected. Just making an observation. I'm not generally thought of too well here so I'm allowed to make such observations without it affecting my reputation.

A few years ago in NC. It was definitely epic! They didn't play "closer" but they did play a lot of the great older songs "Terrible Lie", "March of the Pigs", "Head like a Hole" etc. The visuals were great and I even dug the new tracks they played from "Hesitation Marks" live even though I originally didn't care much for that album. I wish I could have seen them in the 90's of course, but I was still on cloud 9 for weeks after it.

AWESOME! If I could go back in time to see a show, it'd be Bowie and NIN. As far as I'm concerned, Pretty Hate Machine is the best album to come around in my lifetime. It just doesn't get better from where I sit.

I've seen NIN. Thought I'd be cool and try and be in front.
Got my ass kicked and my glasses shattered. Moved to the back with the rest of the old guys.

Nate, since you have become adverse to any opinion other than your own or frustrated by conversation about anything other than Apple or Stanhope. I'll help you.
Q- Stanhope live?

A- No.
I get your passion, but this is an opinion forum.
Sorry, for ruining you Stanhope party.
