I have been buying my wife's rolling tobacco for her, just so she can't complain when I get more tobacco than her, for less money. 8)

I learned that, overall, it's best to keep things even in the long term. If you have $100 to spend on tobacco, spend $50 on tobacco and buy her something for $50 or take her out for a meal. It may slow down your tobacco acquisition rate, but she can never say that you spend lots of money on yourself while she never gets anything.

It depends on what your definition of "Better" is, does the TAD/PAD go away=no are there more better blends to buy, try and stock=yes

i was on my laptop the other day and my wife heard me whistling and saying " man she has a beautiful tone and a nice shape" she quickly came over to look, she thought i was looking at porn, but when she found out it was pipes, she found it a bit weird, and almost wished she would have catch me watching porn.

It gets better that moment you sit in privacy with a good pipe, good tobacco, a cold (or hot) libation and have a glorious smoke all to yourself, reflecting on the day and not worrying about tomorrow.

Unfortunately for some of us, the days where all of those pieces fall into place are to few, but they do happen occasionally, and right then it's worth it.

@hextor:

Regarding SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) it may not get better, or just become barely tolerable.
My SWMBO accuses me of smoking a pipe like a pirate while surfing internet porn & drinking Grog, when I am only out on the deck having a pipe with iced tea & reading e-mails or professional websites. Doesn't matter & no point in arguing.
Using the argument, it's my money, doesn't get too far either.
The possible demise of readily available pipe tobacco is ineffective as well. As is the argument that my cellar may be very valuable in trade/barter/resale in the future.
The only effective approach was for me to remind her of the piles of money I saved by not having to hire carpenters/plumbers/electricians/rooofers/woodsman/snow removal/handy men/auto mechanics/gourmet chefs/etc. Try to make it a quid pro quo, goods for services.
Now lets see if it still works for the most recent TAD & PAD.
Maybe you could convince her to budget a monthly allowance TAD-PAD. Say, $500/month which gives enough of a negotiation buffer to get a minimum of $50-$100/month (with rollover of unused balance, of course).
Good luck!

I've 'misplaced' her mail key a couple of times. The bills are paid, there's 3 dollars left in the bank and I'm happy. What she won't know won't hurt her! That's why I'm typing this from work and not around the wife.

My ex missus was so tight that when I needed to replace all four spark plugs on my motorcycle she allowed me to buy one a week for four weeks...and I kid you not!
Now I'm single I can please myself on what I buy and when in the full knowledge that it is only to myself I have to account.
Wives and girlfriends have their uses of course but in the grand scheme of things, I for one am happy to have never married and have no plans on getting another girlfriend :puffy:
Regards,
Jay.
