I have problems with extremely long ribbons going down and clogging the airway.

like, do some people just shove that pile of hay down the pipe?
I shove that hay! I find if I roll long ribbons into a wad and stuff it in all at once, like a big knot, I get the best burn. A lot of G&H and Germain's is super stringy.

Thank you for the answers. I recently tried Tabac Manil Robin and was amazed at how well it burned and required no relights. I started thinking why not do this to all tobacco. It is cut very finely and almost fees like cotton.

Was just thinking today. Shag or very fine shredded tobacco seems to smoke better. Do people shred their tobacco to a finely shredded type? Is so, what do you use to do it?
Thoughts?

About half my tobacco is shag to begin with. I don't use a shredder, but a knife and rubbing out between the hands for other cuts.

I fold and stuff everything except plugs that I cube cut. The key to fold and stuff for me is the humidity. Too wet it doesn't burn great. Too dry and it smokes hot and fast.
