I'm curious Jesse, you've been doing this a long time and probably have 3 tons of tobacco stored. At this point how often do you try a new blend? Or have you tried them all by now?
Well, not quite 3 tons, but enough to last me the next 10 to 15 years as the rate that I smoke, so more than a lifetime supply. Certainly nothing like the Brobdingnagian proportions of a number of hoards in the pipe smoking population.
Only
@JimInks has come close to trying them all. I'm a total piker by comparison, with maybe only 500 to 600 blends smoked. But I'm content with what's been gathered.
So I rarely buy anything new, but on rare occasion when my curiosity is piqued, will try a ultra small batch one off, or a special release, examples of which would be FBV Endless Void, the 25th Anniversary tinned release of Watch City Old Dominion or Sutliff Cringle Flake. For me these are really interesting tobacco blends made by blenders whose work I like, using properly aged components rather than green tobaccos. I can enjoy them now, or later, which is a plus. I never know how much "now" I have left.
