For some time before joining this forum, I have posted reviews on Tobaccoreviews.com It has been educational in that it has informed my choice of tobacco blends, and also taught me how to filter useful content. At the end of the day any review is subjective, but it has been another aspect in my pipe smoking journey. It has also taught me that I have a lot more to learn.

Nah, with blends changing each time companies change hands or limited blends come and go, the site is virtually useless.
That is an interesting viewpoint. I don't always agree with reviews and an example is Borkum Riff Bronze. I bought some aeons ago when I first started out and liked it, but found it to burn too hot. I tried a pouch of the latest iteration this week and it has improved beyond measure. Now contains mainly Virginia with some Black Cavendish instead of the original Burley.

One of my points exactly. That's the result of Borkum Riff changing hands from Mac Baren to STG. Solani's blends however took a turn for the worse earlier this year due to being reformulated.

That's bad news. Have Solani messed with 660 Silver Flake or 633 Virginia and Perique ? They are my favorites of that blending house.

On the whole, I find reviews to be of very limited relevance to me. Nobody else has my taste buds, my experience (quantitative, not qualitative) or context. When reviews are comparative, then I usually find something useful in them, because then I then have a reference point. Same with some reviewers that I share common affinities with. Which is why the "Emeritus Account" thing killed off half the reviews on there for me.

I posted a couple of reviews on TR, but no more. I’m not interested in even trying to be subjective, and in any event I’m not qualified to do a truly objective review. I’ll do the occasional first impressions post here and just say what I think, but no more “reviews”.

I find the reviews to be mostly helpful. I try to follow certain reviewers that I get to know, such as @JimInks who consistent reviews with reliable information. While my palate and experience may differ, I still get good information from the reviews. I do not have a good palate or enough experience to contribute meaningfully, but hope that one day I will be able to do so. Other reviewers that I don't know well enough I skim through and try to get an aggregate 'man off the street' opinion.

I also try to read 'super tasters' reviews and learn from them. This is not only helpful for my tobacco growth, I find it fun.
