Not sure if you're asking what we smoke when sailing, but for me, it's Margate.

OTOH, if it has to have a nautical sounding name, you got me. I like "Red Sky at Night...." for a name if Greg or other blenders are reading.

What a great thread! The naval theme always attracted me when it comes to pipe smoking and different blends - maybe the reason for my love of Navy Blends. Haven't got around to Navigator yet, but you could put Windjammer in there and Mac Baren Navy Flake. How about Ten Russians? Or Inns of Court linked to the Antarctic expeditions? But with the passing of Shane MacGowan, of late I keep going back to that quote of Churchill's and what he thought of Navy tradition.

But C&D's Melville at Sea series has some very fun twists on the formula. John Marr is one I enjoy in particular, if for nothing else there aren't many blends that has its exact flavor profile. It's a big kitchen sink aromatic.

I love me some Salty Dogs and PS Luxury Navy Flake, but can't forget good old Capstan!

Of course, they don’t make it anymore so when I’m on deck these days I normally smoke St. Bruno. Life on the ocean wave is too windy for briar so always in a meerschaum.

I didn’t know the UK Royal Navy had a blend, from what I read it was around WW II?

Is this a recently opened tin of yours, and if so what year is it? hmm
