This thread is awesome! After some careful consideration I am decided I am in the pipe and smoker gets better with time camp. My three flea market finds, I mentioned in my first post in this thread, do smoke great with a smoothness, but I suspect after some contemplation that I probably assign some of that mentally because I put so much work into them. All my current pipes smoke very well. The ones I didn't like I donated or sold. But I smoke a few of them differently per that pipes quirks. My Dublin I smoke much slower as it get down towards the bottom per heat issues. My Peterson 314 I smoke slower as the bowl is small and thin walled. As two quick examples. Others I can fill with anything and smoke without even thinking. So the smoker plays a part just as the pipe does.
