He was basically the John Belushi of football. Too much of everything, and a genius in his field. Maradona himself said a few years ago that he was 53 going on 80, or something to that effect, because of all the hard living.

Interesting vid, mingc! Though it's interesting that for all the skill shown in dribbling, stealing and protecting, only 4-5 out of the 50 clips show his passes lead to goals! Though in some cases, the clip was perhaps clipped before the finish.

And he's far down the list in overall goals scored lifetime. Still, and incredible player.

Pretty much dragged Argentina to a World Cup win single handedly (no pun intended). First he scored his infamous 'hand of God' goal against us then compounds my misery with one of the best goals you'll ever see?.
It seems pointless comparing him to Messi or Ronaldo as midfielders/forwards are afforded far more protection these days.

He was a character as well which always appeals to me in a sportsman. George Best, Alex Higgins, Eric Bristow and now Maradona, all huge characters and now all are sadly gone.
