George is not wrong, there is a lot more fun being had around here than there used to be, even in the short time I’ve been here. Thank God!

But the majority of content here is still very much pipe and tobacco related and the people in this thread generate much of it. I realize George and few others have a hard time sifting through the goofing off at times. Easy fix. Hit the ignore button.

Or take George’s tactic and contribute nothing but complaints about other forum members and insults about their parenting style and/or heritage once every 3 months or so.

I don't think the fact that some of our member are infrequent posters means much at all. They're just being selective in what they have to say or someone else has already said it for them. And they're not old fuckers, they're members, although some can be crusty at times.

George is entitled to express his viewpoint. He's direct and smacks you right between the eyes. And in this case he makes a lot of good points. And if you are feeling defensive, perhaps it's because you see yourself in his own words. Personally, I like to have a bit of fun on here and enjoy everyone's quips, but as a earlier poster said, quality over quantity.
Earlier today I was wondering where have all the regular contributors gone. Perhaps the onslaught of mundane postings is the reason their participation has dropped. Food for thought.

I don't use it here myself, but I've heard from at least one person that it makes reading difficult. I have used said function on an IRC channel, and when the ignored member was participating in a conversation with another one who wasn't ignored it made things wonky, specially because the ignored one didn't know he was being blocked and assumed I was reading his input: he might have felt at some point that I was taking shots at him when I couldn't even see his posts! Things got even hairier because the ignored one was a channel Op!!
