Hell, maybe it's a handful of professional board destroyer guys who hire themselves out and this one's been targeted. Absurd? Of course. But the if the net result is the same there's no functional difference.

I don't think the initial topics are his issue, I think he is more upset with the fact that threads sometimes devolve into something completely unrelated and people make too many jokes. Which is true, but often also provides some much needed humor at times.

But to your point, I agree, there is still plenty of erudite, on topic discussion to be had here. The occasional, or even frequent detour for a little fun has never bothered me, even if it is my thread. People are pretty good about sharing their on topic content regardless of previous replies.

I’ve only been here for a couple years, and there has always been a fair bit of ribbing on topics. But also a vast wealth of real answers and helps, and a large continent of truly wonderful gentlemen (and a few ladies). While there is currently more tomfoolery afoot, it trends toward banter and not the inflammatory pointed attacks as were much more normative by some previous members who have either moved on or kept quiet. I believe the current status quo to be a good blend. Plus, there is always the ignore function for folks that are too obnoxious.

I actually found most people to be way bigger assholes in years past. Read some old threads... it's honestly insane the level of dick-headed-ness. Fooling around is all in good fun and I don't believe it ruins anything.. besides the afternoon of curmudgeons.

I am as culpable as most of you on here when it comes to sarcasm in threads, especially when it's being begged for.
I was the first to pile on the Hari Krishna thread but c'mon...... That guy was BEGGING FOR IT!

All that being said... I just read the Newark thread in which a guy asks if anyone is going presumably to hook up with fellow forum members to share a bowl, and then the thread was basically hijacked and bantered about.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just making an observation.....

Kudo's, Georged, for pointing it out. I am adult enough to admit I have been a little casual in hijacking threads and will make a point to reel it in a tad.
