Why should I have to buy a new Peterson pipe to be able to get a single tin of one of your Wintertime Reserve blends?
You did this last year and I didn't buy any.
You are doing it this year and I refuse to buy a pipe to get a single tin.

On the other hand, if you just made your four Wintertime Reserve blends available for purchase, I would probably buy multiple blends.

I bought a Comoys pipe once because it came with a leather tobacco pouch. And I just so happened to need one. Traded the pipe a year later. Still have the pouch.

Yeh, FOMO is strong, but really these were probably blended just for this pipe promotion. They will also have a holiday blend made so that anyone can buy like they have in years past.

If it is a limited run blend, and they end up selling pipes, I suppose it's working for them. As many other blends as they offer, I'm not sure I'd care. I certainly have my share of Petersons, and I've been lucky with their quality.

Promotions are just another selling tool. However, the rest of last year's Wintertime blends were made available after the fact. Actually, "HEARTHSIDE" is still available from the 2019 promotion.

I never saw any of last years promo blends being offered for sale after the promotion closed.

This is a Smokingpipes promo, why the OP's ire is directed at C&D is beyond me...

And if SP wants to offer an exclusive blend to incentivize Peterson sales, that's their business... You can't buy the free gift from a crackerjack box with out buying the crackerjacks...

I got suckered into that promo last year. Ended up with a nice tin of tobacco and a poorly constructed pipe as I recall.

I like Pete's and there are a couple I'd might buy but... ...smokingpipes.com doesn't ship tobacco to my country

So oddly the effect of this promo is that I'm not buying the pipes 'cos I won't get the 'free' tobacco. I will undoubtedly buy some more pipes from them sometime later.

Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense but nowhere in the website does it indicate if the offer is only available in the US (and other countries they can ship tobacco to) or if they offer something else to customers elsewhere - my guess is no) and it will just really annoy me if I order and they turn around and say "we can't ship tobacco to you and we're not offering an alternative". I'd probably always be reminded of it whenever I picked whatever pipe I'd ordered.

I haven't actually had any of the C&D Wintertime blends, but "Wintertime Blues" sounds like an excellent name for a song and an accompanying tobacco blend!
