I always keep Picayune around. Sigaro is one one of my favorite cigar leaf blends. D&R is definately a great value in pipe tobacco, and I haven't been disappointed in any blend I've tried.

I've smoked D&R's Athey, London Dock and all three of the Raccoon's (Friend, Accent & Delight) and found all of them to be good. I still have one tin of Athey and two of London Dock but I need to buy more of the Raccoon's Friend which is the American Blend.

I like D&R tobaccos but sometimes I wish Mark Ryan hadn't changed the labelling on his tobaccos from RYO to pipe tobacco to avoid the FDA regs at the time. It ended up bringing government on to our hobby.

Rimboche AP is legit. Better than match Elizabethan IMO.
will probably get SJ also.

London dock tastes like false cherry. Did not enjoy but my wife likes it.

Athey almost has a taste like half and half.. only not cloying or false like half and half.

D & R is right up the highways from me in Kenley, with its mail handled through Smithfield, a somewhat larger town, here in what is still the tobacco belt in central N.C. I have not sampled many of D&R blends, so I can't speak to the inventory. But I am a burley devotee, and on the recommendation of a Forums member I bought a pound of Two-Timer, two burleys "toasted twice." It is a sterling example of a solid all-burley blend done with sense and artistry. I rarely buy a pound, but I'm glad I did. This outfit is, as they say, the real deal.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions everybody. I do like drier tobaccos with minimal casing, I'm a tightwad, and I also like a nice shag, so it sounds like I'll like D&R blends.
Yeah man you get a metric ass-ton in a pound as well. I packed really tight 4 Pint jars and 1 half pint jar off 1 pound. Normally you might get 2 pint jars off a normal LB.

Sweet! That's what I like about the Low Country Natural blends in bulk from SP, you get twice as much actual tobacco compared to some of the gooey aro blends that are fully Sutliffed.

Haha yeah if you are looking for best volume for the money I think you’ve found it. I bet it’s drier than low country though I haven’t tried LC.
I got the 2 lbs and it looks like it got 5.

Listen to @chasingembers . He's telling the story correctly. Some of the blends are meant for cigarettes and pipes, but many of them are for pipes exclusively. The tobacco often is on the dry side because Mark Ryan doesn't believe people should pay for water weight. The Rimbouche VaPers are very high quality. I also recommend V.I.P., which is an aro-VaPer. I could recommend a lot of other D&R bends, too. High quality tobaccos at bargain prices.
Hi Jim - in your reviews for the Rimboche VaPers you recommend a rehydration to get the best flavour out of them - what method do you use to rehydrate these tobaccos?
