Cutty Madness. Quarterfinals Match 4.

Here we have the lithe black blast with cocobolo wood shank extension against the tan blast ring grain cutty with bamboo.

Some of these pipes are distinctive and the carver may be recognizable to many. Please try to avoid guessing the carver in the comments so as not to influence any voters, but feel free to comment on what you like and don't like about each one. Apparently they have done away with the poll feature here, so please cast your vote in a comment and I will count them when the threads begin to naturally slow down.

"1" is a lot more cutty. It looks really nice and I like how it shrinks closer to the top. Classy. "1" .

I'm just now noticing that the bamboo is not done like all of my bamboo pipes, with a piece of the vulcanite at both ends. Mmmmm, I would probably let that one slide if I were shopping. Maybe it works just fine, or maybe there will be problems later on down the line.
So, I guess by default #1 gets my vote.

#1 ... one of my favorites of the whole bunch...beautifully done. The second one is very nice as well, but sort of like with the previous spigot, the bamboo doesn't work real well on the cutty shape to me.

There's an elegance to Number One that I like. The bamboo on Two feels sort of clunky—it reminds me of segments on a caterpillar, only not rounded. One.
