I think that’s going to be an interesting aspect of this competition. I think all of these pipes are going to be awesome -it’s just a matter of personal tastes leaning one way or the other.

Both are very striking with wonderful lines and craftsmanship.
I prefer #2:
Like the color pallet, the amazing grain from the blast- almost a sunburst look and the classic cant of the bowl and look of a Cutty.

The stabilized birch and warthog tusk are way cool, but the nonpareil-esque mount, and especially the cant and voluptuous lines of #2 evoke love. The second is the one I'd want in my harem.

Out of curiosity, is there a tube running through the horn shank? Or does its integrity depend on glue alone?

I'm gonna have to go with #2 here.

This really is going to be taunting. My go to carvers are gonna wonder why all of a sudden I want a cutty and not my usual shapes

I thought about that as well, but decided against it for two reasons.

1. I wanted the carvers pieces to be represented in the light, angles, and photo quality that they chose to photograph them in. All I have is my camera phone, and I wanted to make sure their pieces were displayed as they would have them displayed to the client, so I used their photographs of their own pieces.

2. I am lazy and did not want to do it.

I’m not a fan of either stem or accent on these pipes. I like the colour of the first one, but the shaping of the second is what brings it home with the win

Both stummels are spectacular. I'm just not a big fan of contrasting wood and extensions or fancy stems.

As much as I dig the blast on numero uno, I'm voting for cutty number TWO.
