Cutty Madness. Match 1.

Okay folks. Let's get this thing kicked off with our first matchup between two amazing cutties. We have an awesome one piece paneled sitter with a craggy cross-cut blast, up against a very organically themed pencil shank with a kiss of plateau. Please vote purely on which pipe you prefer.

Some of these pipes are distinctive and the carver may be recognizable to many. Please try to avoid guessing the carver in the comments so as not to influence any voters, but feel free to comment on what you like and don't like about each one. Apparently they have done away with the poll feature here, so please cast your vote in a comment and I will count them up after 7 days.

At first I was excited about this contest. Now I’ve just realised you are gonna be taunting me with ridiculously awesome pipes. Screw you brother.

It's an extension of the shank, so yes briar. The stem is not removable, this pipe was created as a one piece design in an homage to the clays of old where the cutty shape originated.

I'm loving the first pipe, the craggy looking one with the foot. In fact it may be one of the best looking pipes I've ever seen! Just my opinion of course.

Definitely the first one. The blast is wonderfully textured and the stem is an organic extension of the pipe that is elegant and attractive. I'm afraid the pencil shank version looks awkward and ill-proportioned. Also, the semi-plateau top is unfinished in appearance.

The first one hands down. Second is nice too, but this is no contest. That first one is bound to have a shot at the finals.

The first one for me............ I LOVE that its all one piece, LOVE the blast, and the hex treatment really makes it shine. Both pipe are admirable and wonderful, but the first one really trips my trigger.........

Agreed on #1. Although not a fan of "hex" shapes, the darker color, craggy blast, and traditional cutty "foot" put it ahead in this matchup...

I love pretty much everything about it, the blast reminds me of some prehistoric dragon's hide, the panels are well done, I really like one piece pipes, the bit-to-shank transition is great, and it has a nice little foot too.
