My problem, if it is a problem, is with that catsup/vinegar aroma with some blends. I've heard the smell diminishes with aging.
I also really don't care for the smell, but since it doesn't at all translate to the smoke, its not a problem. The olfactory sense is pretty powerful though, so I could see how for some it would be a deal breaker.

I recently ordered Anniversary Kake from Hearth and Home. Very tasty VA. And I've been mostly into Aros.

I too love H&H Anniversary Kake.

Also as I stated before McClelland's Deep Hollow is a good in between blend from Aros to VA's.

What a great topic. Lots of good choices here for those looking to transition - and note, in deference to some previous posts, no one is suggesting one should or must transition!
A great Aro-to-VA transitional blend, IMHO, is GLP Barbary Coast. Again, IMHO, an outstanding choice.
Additionally, I would recommend Orlik Golden Sliced, Dunhill Royal Yacht, and Haddo's Delight.
For VaBurs, I would recommend Erinmore Flake and University Flake as good transitional blends.

I think Deep Hollow is a great intro as well. An under appreciated blend IMO.

I wonder why no one mentions so-called Lakeland scented tobaccos like Ennerdale Flake? A heavily scented Virginia is what they basically are, and anytime I've let a cig smoker get a puff off my pipe, they've loved the taste and headrush (when I tell them to inhale deep, of course...) I really don't want to get this off subject, as I know Lakeland scents are a little controversial, but they are about as halfway between an aromatic and a Virginia as I can think of?
