I'm debating an estate pipe. It has a screw on stem. The guy says that the stem when screwed tight is crooked. It's Meershaum.

Anyone know how I could fix that?
Thanks

Does he mean over clocked ? Or misaligned ?
I’d ask for more photos
When it's snug the fishtail is sideways. My friend who's a handy man said saw off the first couple of threads but when I told him it was Meershaum he said he was scared that the saw could stress the material and crack it. He doesn't have any other ideas.

It is probably a misaligned tenon
Maybe an easy fix. Or not

@Chasing Embers may want to chime in

Metal screw in tenon? If so, slowly heating the tenon with make it turn out. Test every few seconds for alignment. Alternately, you could heat it enough to slightly loosen it and twist the stem into alignment. Probably something like this.
