Yesterday afternoon I was blessed (?) with a visit from a very pretty district nurse who had come to give me my annual Covid booster & flu jabs. I got a new one this time, Novavax I think she said.

One in each arm, the process was as smooth as silk. I expected to feel a little 'iffy' later in the day as per usual when I have these jabs but nothing untoward happened.

That was until just before 3am when I woke up with the shivers so switched on my leccy blanket to warm me up. Within minutes I was suffering from the hots so off it went and that is pretty much how it went all night....virtually no sleep and alternating chills/hots. Also my shoulders were aching like heck.

It's now nearly 3pm and I'm still suffering chills/hots, plus all my joints are giving me pain and I feel sick as a parrot. Whether it is the new vaccine or what but this is no fun though it is infinitely better than full on Covid which I've had twice .

Anyone else had Novavax? Do they still give boosters in the US?

Jay.

I received the vaccination in January of 2021 soon after rollout. I was working as an EMT and about half of us decided to go that route. I caught COVID in October 2021, and "may" have caught it this past summer. We didn't test when suffering what seemed like a bad cold. My wife and I got over it. The after effects of the jab were worse than the illness, for me. I hope you feel better soon.

The Noravax vaccine is offered in the US. It’s the vaccine made through the traditional methods.

I haven’t had it. I've taken both the Moderna and the Pfizer. A few years back I experienced a reaction similar to yours when I got the Moderna booster and a flu shot at the same time. Strong chills and feverish moments that lasted several hours. Only time I’ve ever had any kind of reaction to any inoculation.
Sad to say, no shot has made me pregnant, magnetic, or part of the Borg.
I did catch Covid in August but it was so mild I didn’t realize that it was Covid until I took a test after my guest at a performance of Much Ado About Nothing, also came down with Covid. We figure that the asshole who sat in a seat next to us and coughed up his lungs for the duration of the play, was the source. Her case was more severe and she needed treatment. I’ve kept up my shots, she didn’t. She’s gotten back on the regimen.

I get texts to come and get my winter shots because I'm over 65. They'll phone me up in the end, I'll politely decline, on we go for another year.

I have not had that one but Ive had a couple of the other versions. I felt a little run down later in the say and a bit slow the second day. I need to get another. It beats the way I felt when I got the easy version of covid last winter. Id never felt so tired. I didnt appreciate the loss of my sense of smell either.

That’s the crazy thing about COVID, as well as the shots, everyone reacts differently. For me I’ve only ever had sore shoulders and feeling run down for a day while others I know feel it a lot worse. My friends who have had full blown COVID, most were fine and it was either a light or heavy cold, while a few took it harder. One friend has permanent damage to his lungs and is a long hauler, and early in the pandemic I had another who landed in the hospital for close to a week. She never needed to be vented but it was close.

I've had the Moderna and all of the boosters with just a sore arm and a little tiredness the next day as side effects.

My sister-in-law, her son and her husband were all hospitalized with Covid the same day. She is now a widow. A former co-worker of mine was told by the doctor that if he was put on a ventilator, he probably would not make it. He survived but spent months recovering.

Just got my latest booster and flu shot the other day.

They don't have pretty district nurses. Legally they're required to be at best slightly better then meh. Not sure what they gave you though. Just kidding.

On a serious note I hope you are up and about soon. A few years back I went on the OAP Vax blowout sale at some pharmacy in Florida and had a Flu shot, Shingles shot Part II and Pneumonia shot all in one go. I felt like crap for 36 hours and slept through the whole thing. The good thing was I slept through Halloween so I didn't have to give kids loads of candy and say such memorable phrases as 'Enjoy diabetes!' or 'You will look like a real pirate when they have to saw your leg off'. Such a fun time of year in Lutz, Florida!

My father ended up in a coma for 65 days thanks to covid. He wasn’t expected to live but Dad’s freakishly stubborn. Now he can neither taste nor smell and probably never will again.
I get my shot yearly because i am now reasonably confident it wouldn’t kill me. There are worse things

I had this year’s covid and flu shots together . Next day I was achy and stuffy with a general malaise. Day after that I was fine.
To my knowledge I have not had covid.
