I recently acquired a new meerschaum pipe that I really like, unfortunately the draft hole is drilled about 3-4mm high in the bowl. Is pipe mortar an appropriate medium to sue to correct this, or should I just live with it?

Still like to know.
Sorry, lost track and forgot to reply to you.

Right now it smokes alright, as expected it accumulates moisture in the heel below the draft hole. Has not really been an issue so I am leaving it alone for now. In the future I may order some of the meerschaum discs that are made to place in the bottom of the bowl when I order a new meer.

Alternatives are meerschaum chips or Nording Keystones
The meer chips are cheap as chips - pun intended 😁
Having used both, I find that the meer chips are more absorbent than the Keystones
Definitely helps reduce dottle when I don't get the tobacco dry enough
