I’m very curious about the flavor of the kasturi
I'm by no means a professional reviewer anywhere remotely close to the pedigree and accomplishment of JimInks, but here's my two cents worth on why I love this blend:
There are those occasions when you can just tell that a tobacco offering has been expertly blended by people who know what they're doing - Mad Fiddler Flake is one of them. The Kasturi is a stroke of brilliance in how it interplays with the Virginias and Perique. It brings differing intense layers of cinnamon oatmeal with brown sugar, nutmeg, apricots, and cloves the deeper you go into the bowl. The virginias add a fruity, tartness that is similar to dark cherries. The sugar intensity of the Virginias perfectly compliments what the brown sugar and cinnamon sugar that the Kasturi brings to blend. The Perique adds a harmoniously balanced portion of stewed prunes, fermented figs, and cayenne pepper which intensify you get further down in the bowl. The Cavendish and its light molasses topping softly rounds everything out to the point where they are no jagged edges on this blend. It won't bite you, no matter how hard you puff it. The smoke is full bodied and creamy. The retro hale will invigorate you and make you well aware you are smoking above average Perique.
The aromas have been described by others as exotic and I would agree. It gives off an aroma that marries a proper and mature VaPer with a spicy incense, reminiscent of a Catholic High Mass, with a teasing compliment of fruit and baking spices.
C&D did a marvelous job with this. I should shut up because I like the fact I can always buy it.
