Throw them away? I didn't know cobs were disposable. I'd say, keep them thirty years and then evaluate their condition and keep them another thirty years, and repeat.

I only smoke cobs. They're light, don't ghost, love the look and if I drop one I don't get a heart attack!

I would also point out that while MM and Old Dominion cobs are superlative with almost any blend, they are the ultimate pipe for any kind of Americana blend -- Va/bur/Cav and some of the grand old American OTC and tobacco forward aromatics like Edward G. Robinson, Iwan Ries Three Star Blue, and many others. The freehand MM cobs are perfect for Tabac-Manil Semois, the Belgium-grown burley variant.

With my wanderings I have more people notice a Cob before they notice a briar.

I have several cobs. One alone is is simply one of my best smokers. Typically I smoke aros in them and English and Vapers in my briars.

I am at a point in my pipe-smoking adventure where if it weren't for Lat-heavy English blends, my briars would probably be retired. Briars may be beautiful, but to me, corncob is the ideal medium for burning tobacco. Lats just don't taste very good in them for me.

Cobs smoke well and are great travel pipes. You can lose one or break one and unless you've had it for 30 years, you get over it quickly.
Not so much with your Dunhill.
A man could smoke nothing but cobs for a lifetime and enjoy every smoke.

Thanks chasingembers. Planning on current and recent production before the modifieds. As to Dunhills, have 2( bargain at an antique store).Do they smoke better than a cob ? In MHO not necessarly. As a matter of fact, all my pipes smoke well. But, I'm just a good ole south Alabama redneck !Kinda like being a Cajun without the gators ! ;-)

My 91 year old grandpa, once told me the same thing as shutterbug said. He never smoked his corncob in public, only his bruises and his favorite pipe, his meerschaum.

Kentucky mountain boy here. Hillbilly through and through. Rattlesnakes and bears seem to be the issue here.

Your grandpa sounds like a fine gentleman didimauw. Mine was the only other pipe smoker in the family and my inspiration for taking up the pipe.

dunhill your paying for the brand. cobs your paying for a fantastic smoking machine.
Nah, you're just paying to get the Dr. Grabow spade machine fixed when it starts spitting out white dots, and they rebrand those pipes as Dunhill.
