Is this organization still active, the web site has a lot of blank pages, the last POY depicted was from 2020, overall looks sort of abandoned?
Still active. The website doesn't get updated often. I've gotten the paper version, published 6 times a year I think, for ages. I'm switching to the PDF for space considerations (retirement downsizing approaching), and the PDF also gives you color photos.

FYI, the Pipe Club of London puts out a small journal twice a year, the only other English-language pipe publication that I know of. They also have club pipes and gear (I've got one of the club neckties!) It's a nice, world-wide group that I also like supporting (many of the members are overseas, 25 different countries at last count). It's about $15 a year. I'd love to visit a meeting if I ever get to London:

The title of the thread invites us to tell you why you shouldn't join. I will paraphrase Samuel Clemons in saying, I wouldn't be of member of any organization that would have me as a member.

I'm not much of a joiner, but this sounds like a good group.

Groucho Marx! At least it's very widely attributed to him.

This is the first I’ve even heard of this, at least the first that I remember. I’m going to give it another look but first glance it looks great and I sorely miss P&T Magazine.

Al, Thanks.

I am a member but I have to say the website is pathetic. There's a lot of potential there if someone would actually man the keyboard. I will continue to support them though.

Oh, and before someone asks why don't I volunteer to help instead of just complain? I have. Twice. Both times I got a pat on the head and was told they would keep me in mind. puffy

I think it may be Groucho, the quote about joining organizations. Both he and Twain are widely mis-attributed. Sorry about that. Sometimes people quote others from an earlier generation and get attribution on those quotes. A recent quote on Forums was Winston Churchill quoting Oscar Wilde without attribution. A good line often gets repeated, or stolen, depending on how you look at it. At lot of mis-attributed quotes go back to writers in ancient Greece, especially when Greek was a standard subject taught in school.

It is really tempting to say that if you don't want to join, one must really question your enthusiasm for pipes. I think it is a great read with a lot of stuff in it.

I was already considering joining and was looking fort feedback on why I shouldn't, hence the thread title. So far the consensus is that it's worthwhile to join.

Actually the magazine that SS Jones posted looked pretty interesting and I think I might subscribe just to get something pipe related to read to make a change from all those C.I and Cigar Catalogues that sit in my bathroom reading rack

Sweet Home Alabama, really? You do understand silly humor when you see it, don't you? Maybe you should actually check the magazine issue to which ssjones (Al) posted a link.

NASPC (North American Society of Pipe Collectors) is indeed still active, and one of their most important contributions is sponsoring the Columbus, Ohio Pipe Show each year.
The magazine is the work of mainly Jeff Knoll and Eddie Fliess.
It is a wonderful publication, and as mentioned, the last of its kind in America. Why not support a group that caters to our community? By the way, members (subscribers) get discounts at various pipe and tobacco dealers around the country as part of their membership. Also, for the $21. annual membership fee you get both the electronic and hardcopy issues.
Just join.
